See my recent review of the similar Kenwood KFC-W2511 10" subwoofer which was quite favorable too.

I just upgraded to the 12" sub and put it in the same 1.12 cu. ft. 3/4" MDF sealed box that I previosly had the 10" sub in (put the old one in wifey's car). I found the 10" sub when at the highest levels of my amp's 300W RMS power were close to the very limits of the smaller sub's power rating and wanted to have a little extra room so I upgraded to this 12".

While I don't often crank it so loud, at times I do (tailgating at football games with the hatch open for example) and this is where the difference over the 10" model is really noticeable.

The 12" version of this sub is an absolute BEAST for a single 12" sub. Driven with a strong amp from a high voltage RCA signal from a quality head unit this thing is incredibly loud and clear and probably can pulverize any kidney stones you might be carrying.

I had previously also used Pioneer's Champion series' 12" sub in this very same 1.12 cu. ft. sealed box and the 12" Kenwood, I guess due to its higher 90db efficiency rating (vs 87 on the Pioneer) is clearly louder at the same volume levels.

Sound quality is excellent at all volume levels and even at absolute max volume with the bass totally boosted on my amp's + 12db knob there is no clipping or distorting whatsoever and the thing totally thumps every seat in my Mitsu.

The system in my '98 Mitsu Eclipse GST is:

Pioneer Premier head unit driving the smaller speakers and a Pioneer GM-D8400M mono amp (300W RMS, peak 1200W) pushing this subwoofer.

The only thing I can say without swearing is this thing REALLY pounds. How can so much sound come from one twelve inch sub? I have NO IDEA. This thing sound great with the paired sealed box they have listed on this site. MAKE SURE you get an amp that puts out at least 400 watts RMS 4 ohms to really hear what kind of sound this thing makes. Let me tell you, if you get two of these, your windows might break. I can see mine vibrate and when I push it, this thing can make my head hurt. THIS SUB IS NUTS and at such a steal!!!! GET ONE NOW. You won't be disappointed at the CLEAN and POWERFUL sound this thing makes.

For the price these subs are a great bargain. The RMS on these are 400 watts and I am only using 280 to push them, so I wonder how it would sound if I got a stronger amp that had a 400 RMS watt rating? Great find though, cant beat it.

I was getting (and now have) a Kenwood head unit because I wanted the feature that allows you to measure your acceleration with the radio. I tried to get my other equipment from Kenwood also. I found that the amp, speakers, subwoofer and box all worked very well together, which is what I wanted.
I also found the prices to be reasonable. I think the Kenwood equipment, including the subwoofer, were a very good value and I am still pleased with my purchase over 6 months later.

These subs are good for the price. Pair them with the right amp.........clean smooth bass. I have two of them hooked up to a alpine 500w mono amp, and it pounds hard enough to make my lighter not light in my car

Powerful bumpin, I have these on a Lanzar 2000 watt amp with a 2.8 Farad cap in a Buick. these hit hard not the cleanest bass but I'm think that's more the amp because these have some sick response with a 1.3 cu ft box. Very sick for the price from beastie boys to ODB to tool to NIN to INSX to Pink Floyd they all hit hard and sound great on these.

they pack a punch, and a great one for the price, they knocked the rear view mirror off the windshield of a nissan sentra! GREAT BUY
Better for rap and techno, 10's are better for rock and country, thus why i am trading it... still a great item

I have 2 of these in my Dodge durango and let me tell ya they slam for the money. i would highly recommened these!!!

I bought 2 of these 4 years ago and the last one just kick the bucket. These subs sound really good. With the proper amp they will give you a nice clean hard hitting bass while they last. Be warned that because these are made from plastic over time they will start to crack from heat(like mine did) and the bass will start getting distorted.

BASS..wow these are awesome . was a little hesitant but Kenwood came correct with these. I recommend these to anyone who likes BASS
