Legal carry in California,
By PJ (Westcoast USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kershaw Clash (Sports)
I just had to respond to the review regarding its legality in California. As of 2011 this knife is in fact LEGAL to carry. A spring assisted knife is LEGAL as long as the operation involves the use of a stud, hole, disk or in this case a FLIPPER. As long as the opening mechanism is attached to the blade and not on the handle (like the old switchblades were deployed, a button on the side) it is in fact LEGAL to carry. Just had to clarify that to potential buyers of this, or any other assisted opening knife....

5 stars for value. For $23 you can't beat this knife. The reviews I've read are fairly accurate so I won't belabor the point. Opens fast, good blade shape, decent metal, plastic handle, one handed opening, good pocket clip, and a nice overall appearance. True it doesn't have the pricey look of my $100 knives or even the Kershaw Blur but it is still a great pocket knife. I got this for use as an EDC work knife. It has to clip over a zipper and I expect it's going to get beat up just in daily carry so I didn't want a knife that cost enough to make me worry about damaging it so in my case the cheaper plastic handle is a plus! This knife is perfect as a GOOD pocket knife that you can actually use and not worry about ruining a more expensive knife. Plus it definitely has a cool factor with the spring assist opening with the flipper. Overall, better than I was expecting.
* Had to amend my review. All the same comments as before still stand. However, after having the knife for 2 weeks or so of very light use I noticed rust spots. Just light spots but still. They are on the sides of the blade. Not enough to stop me using it as a beater knife, but just realize this isn't a knife that's going to last more than a couple years. It's definitely a cheap knife you can beat up and throw away when it's either too rusty or broken. Either way the flipper is still sweet and I like it, just would like it more if it hadn't started rusting on me.

Fantastic knife even for the money. Can't possibly go wrong with any product from Kershaw. Kershaw has a reputation for making quality knives for those with limited budgets. Excellent customer service. Now on to the knife:
Pros: -great worker -easy to sharpen -exceptionally durable (I've dropped it countless times on theh ground) -super fast deployment -quality steel -size and helft -pocket clip -Ken Onion style blade Cons: none Misc. NOtes: -flipper takes some effort to deploy blade. My finger was a bit sore for a while until i got used to it, now I don't even notice. I'VE GOT THE STRONGEST INDEX FINGER IN THE WORLD!!! -
