Product Description

The Leek Knife by Kershaw. The Leek series includes some of our most popular knives. And no wonder. Kershaw's Leeks offer Ken Onion's distinctive design as well as the SpeedSafe ambidextrous assisted opening system. With SpeedSafe, the user can smoothly and easily deploy the blade with one hand, either left or right. Leeks come in a variety of handle styles, some with technologically advanced coatings for enhanced performance. For example, the bead-blasted stainless steel handle offers strength and beauty. A handle with black Tungsten DLC coating produces a Leek with a non-reflective surface. For lightweight and a one-of-a-kind look, choose our "smoked" double-anodized aluminum finish in two colors. Or choose our new Pink Leek with it's fashionable pink anodized aluminum handle, the Rainbow Leek with its titanium oxide coating that produces a highly scratch resistant, brilliant, rainbow finish. Also new in 2007 is our Random Leek with a modified Tanto blade for cutting power and chromium nitride coating for hardness and corrosion resistance. For ease of carrying, all Leeks include a reversible/removable pocket clip. An elegant knife which opens easily, but not too vigorously, and locks open. Can be locked shut with 'speed-safe' tab at the heel of the knife. A little better for right-handed use, this knife can reasonably be managed with the left hand as well, though there are knives more completely suited for left-handed use available (Spyderco models, for example).

This knife may be carried blade up or blade down in the pocket by moving the pocket clip.

For a smaller hand (I'm 5'11" with a medium large hand) look at the Rainbow Scallion, with it's scimitar-inspired blade shape for a sleek, elegant alternative to the Rainbow Leek.

The rainbow finish is really a nice touch, complementing the overall elegant appearance of the knife and emphasizing the tasteful line of the knife when open or closed. It will remind you of a hummingbird's wing, or a soap bubble in sunlight. I think you'll enjoy it each time you use it as I do.

The finish is tough, but does show light marks after about eight months of duty. Very light marks, though, but I mention this if you want to keep the knife in perfect condition. You might get a workhorse knife like the Vapor or the Whirlwind II to carry daily, and then carry the Rainbow Leek or Scallion with you when you are casually dressed after work or on weekends.

The knife comes razor-sharp, and can easily be returned to that condition with an inexpensive diamond sharpener. It holds an edge well, but is definitely a knife you won't want to abuse by throwing or prying with it.

I hope this helps you in making your decision. If you decide to invest in this knife, I'm sure you will enjoy owning and using it.

I have owned this knife for 6 years and still carry it daily. The size is perfect, the action is fantastic, and it stays quite sharp under heavy use.

A couple years back the tension spring broke, but Kershaw has a fantastic lifetime warranty. Ship the item back to them and they fix everything for free and pay for return shipping. I got the blade sharpened, the safety replaced, and a new tension spring. All it cost me was about $5 shipping (I shipped it UPS though, USPS would have been less).

Simply put, this knife is a joy to use. The blade keeps sharp for quite awhile under moderate use. It can be easily and quickly opened and closed with one hand. It's thin and light, making it very pleasant to carry around everywhere!

The lock is easy to use and sturdy.

the knife locks up tight.

It can be opened by your pointer finger on the back of the knife and with the thumb stud.

The color coating is stellar.

The clip is perfect as it doesn't get in your way when holding it and the clip holds the knife firmly.

It is slim and very comfortable to wear. I can wear it doing anything.

I love this knife.

I carry this knife every day of my life. It is very slim so it doesn't take up much room in your pocket. It's extremely sharp. The speed-assist opening system is totally ninja and super quick. The serration is very useful for cutting ropes and cords. The only drawback is the little plastic safety device for keeping the blade in. I have owned five of these knives over the years (I lose them at a rate of about 1.5 per year) and this little piece has broken off of every one of them. I tend not to use the safety lock anyway so it isn't a big deal for me. I prefer the black version because it looks ninja, but the black DLC coating does scratch up after a while. Overall, this is the best EDC I have ever used.

This knife is ninja. Definitely a man's pocket knife...sharp out of the box, lighting fast speed assist, solid lock-out, and ready to go. I did the free super-saver shipping and got it sooner than expected. Instructions to operate and maintain simple and with correct sharpening method included. Fits very nice in pocket side with clip (reversible also). I carry this knife all the time and I can't hear other people talking because of the sound of how awesome this knife is.

Maintains a decent edge, the opening/lock/closing mechanism is simple and smooth. The color is as intense as seen in the pic, and pretty resistant to wear. In general, happy with the knife.

Super sharp, great overall shape, interesting look, but slippery. I REALLY like this knife. It could make a great daily carry pocket knife and the blade is absolutely rock solid when opened and locked. No wiggle or play in the open blade whatsoever. The only draw back is that the "rainbow" coating makes the knife feel a little slippery in the hand. I like the overall design enough I got the same knife but with the flat black coating which solved the slippery problem and makes it a great knife to carry with you. Some may think it's a little small in the hand but I don't have a real need for anything bigger for a knife I would plan to carry and use occasionally on a daily basis. Once you get used to it, the assisted opening works great and aids in easy one handed opening (don't forget to slide the safety). Closing one handed is also no problem once you are used to the knife. Overall, I really like this knife and own 2 with two different coatings.
