4.0 out of 5 stars Great Knife for a Geek, October 25, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Kershaw Select Fire Multi-Tool (Sports)
Im a computer repair technician and this line of work seems to have a contract with leatherman for some reason. But I choose this knife any day. All I need is a bit driver and bits and a knife. I have very little use for all the other things that a leatherman comes with. For the price this knife is great and cant be beat. Two problems I have found is the knife is prone to light surface rust and the things that hold the bits are fragile and can break.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Utility Knife with Style., September 19, 2010

Very sturdy, and well made. The steel is equal to, or better than my other AUS-8 steel blades.

The only problem I've had was the screw driver bits starts to rust from body moisture. So be sure to keep the bits lightly oiled, and she'll be fine.

This is my second one....very happy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really like it, August 10, 2011

I wanted a knife, not a pair of pliers. I carry this every day, It is extremely sharp and will hold an edge, great value. As you can see in the picture its not super sleek, but its fine for me. I dont know what feature I have used more, the bottle opener or the screwdriver. The only thing I would change about it is the liner lock. It dosent stick out enough to close with your thumb. not a big deal, just not use to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars not a knife pro, but this product is straight quality, July 25, 2011

like I said I'm no knife pro, but this thing is awesome! the functionality of both being a knife and a multi-head screwdriver is super convinent. Then it even has a bottle opener after I found that out I was sold!! for 20$ and some change it was an easy buy!!!

Update:
Well, it lasted about 6 months of daily use before the magnet dropped a bit and the hilt screws started coming out. Given Kershaw's very rapid warranty replacement and that the blade never chipped or bent, I'd buy this again. Five stars now instead of 4.
Original Review:
I'm not a big fan of kershaw knives, but between this and the comparable leatherman, and gerber light multitool knives, this is the best.

Where this obviously does not replace all of the functionality of a good leatherman or SAK the bit driver is stout and functional. It carries 4 bits. I already changed out one of the flat heads for a T30 bit from my dewalt bit kit which fit without problem. The area where the bit driver is stored is also a bottle opener which works great.

The blade came extremely sharp and has a good steel for this price point. For me, the weight is a little bit on the heavy side as a true EDC since I wear sweatpants often, but I wear it every day at work (I am a firefighter and so it fits nicely in my uniform pants). Most tasks I need can be done with either a knife or screw driver so this is an excellent tool focused on being very useful for those two designed purposes (more so than any of the leathermans IMHO). I also like the stout clip for slipping it in the pocket rather than having a sheeth to wear on my belt.

All in all I am very happy with this order. As always Amazon price was great and shipping was faster than promised.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Kershaw Success, January 18, 2012

The Kershaw Select Fire Multi-Tool is a very useful utility knife. With its built in screwdrivers and its ability to handle large torque forces this knife is a wonderful tool. As with all Kershaw knives the workmanship is excellent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very well designed, rugged and innovative, January 15, 2012
This review is from: Kershaw Select Fire Multi-Tool (Sports)
(I'm biased because I got this knife/tool at Walmart around Christmas for $10.00. At that price, it was one of the best tools I ever bought. I snapped up three more to give to people.) This has become my EDC knife at work. The first week I carried it I helped a coworker with his car battery, using the screwdriver as a pry. I use the knife every day on packages. The tool is a little heavy in the pocket, but that's because the screwdriver is solid. The three things that really make this a standout are a sharp, quality blade that can be used for work or long enough for self-defense, if necessary; the innovative spring-loaded bit-carry system that allows FOUR bits to be accessible at all times!; and the screwdriver bit holder is not only long enough to reach places, but magnetic for secure holding of the bits! This is absolutely a no-brainer for $10. For $20, it's still a good deal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great knife., December 15, 2011
This review is from: Kershaw Select Fire Multi-Tool (Sports)
I am an auto mechanic. I use this knife everyday with my SOG pocket power pliers. I picked this knife up because I was looking for something with a bit driver that would compliment my SOG. With both tools om my belt I spend much less time making trips to my tool box. The quality of this knife is really good. The handle has that "feels just right factor". The blade has no wobble when opened, and the lock is sturdy. I use to carry the crkt guppie, this knife is far nicer. The blade is large, strong and sharp. Using the bit driver is quick and simple. When the handle gets covered in grease, it cleans up easy with a few sprays of brake cleaner. I picked this knife up at wal-mart for steal at $10. I would still consider this knife a bargain at triple the price. This knife without a doubt is one of my favorite knifes in my collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice multi tool not just a knife., December 12, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Kershaw Select Fire Multi-Tool (Sports)
I bought this knife/screwdriver hoping it would be thin enough to carry every day so that I would always have a screwdriver with me. I already carry a spyderco knife as my primary knife so the function of the knife was secondary to me. I was plesently surprised considering what the tool is capable of doing it doesn't take up that much realestate in my side pocket. I use the srewdriver more often then I thought I would and the knife is shave sharpe right out of the box and has stayed that way with minimal use for 2 months now. overall for 20 bucks this thing is awesome and has become part of my EDC durring work.
