This knife is a great everyday knife. Fast opening, sharp just a great product. Will buy more of these. Have given out as gift to several LEO friends and they love them.

PROS:
-spring assist works great -grip shape is ideal -metal quality feels sturdy CONS: -clip doesn't allow for concealing of whole knife, unlike SOG knives -texture on grip is strange and aesthetically unappealing (no real effect on knife quality, I suppose) -closing mechanism is a little primitive compared to SOG's safer method -knife edge is a little on the dull side Re-reading my review, I sound like a SOG fan, but that's an unfair comparison since my SOG is 2-3 times the price.

The quality of this knife is much better than the generic $8 to $10 spring-loaded knives that Amazon sells. The blade is thicker and more stable and the locking mechanism is more secure. The assisted opening works great for me. This is not a switchblade. You do have to squeeze a little to get the blade moving, but once it starts it fully opens and locks into place 100% of the time. On the other hand, the shape of the knife handle is very uncomfortable to me. The handle narrows considerably towards the end, making it hard to grip. Maybe that makes it easier to fit in your pocket, but I greatly prefer a knife that is more substantial and usable.

I have been every day carrying this knife for a month+ now and am fairly happy with it. The Asset is a longer edc blade than I usually carry but I liked the blade shape too much to resist. My only real con of this knife is the thickness of the unit overall. It has full steel liners on both sides plus the g-10 handles so that it why it is thick. It has a decent low rise pocket clip for tip up/down right side only carry. It has Kershaw's China made steel which is great for the price, and it has the speed safe which you either like or don't. Definitely worth buying if this is what you're looking for.

This knife is a really great compact knife. The handle has a great feel, the blade opens easily with SpeedSafe Assisted opening. I have been very happy with this purchase. The blade is very sharp right out of the package. The pocket clip is very handy and is adjustable. This is one of a new line of knifes from Kershaw, well worth looking at. Shipping very prompt from Amazon as usual. I give it a 5 star rating for being a great knife at a very good value.

Got it on an Amazon lihgting deal at $15. Great nice for that price. When in tip up carry, ther curve of the knife allows it to fit very well in pocket. Right had clip only though. I have several other Kershaws and find all to be high quality and sharp out of the box, this one no expception. i do wish it had thumb studs for when you want to open more slowly/quietly.

The Asset is replacing my Kershaw Ken Onion in my pocket, and I'm pretty pleased with it. I didn't thoroughly look at the size of the knife in comparison to what I was carrying, so it was a little bit of a surprise how big the knife was when I opened it up. Besides it looking a little intimidating for an "every day carry" knife (I work in medical-ish research, this is a tool for me, not protection) I'm fairly happy. I wish there was a closed blade lock, as on some other Kershaw assisted opening knives, but the stiffness of the assisted opening on this knife (and the size of the blade) make it fairly unlikely that it will accidentally open in my pocket.
Also picking it up on the lightning deal meant that the price was very right.

I have had this knife a while now (fine edge), and it is AWESOME!! The assisted opening is not only fun, but really effective. I have several other knives, and this is my EDC. The blade shape is beautiful, every time I 'POP that blade I get compliments on it, it definitely looks more expensive than it is. I work in home energy efficiency, and cut a lot of bat insulation, rubber pipe, foam insulation for copper pipe, and a lot of random stuff. This knife, with a factory edge, goes through R13 bats with one slice all day long. Because of the large size of the blade, I get a very clean cut all the way through, MUCH cleaner than using my Stanley utility blade. I even had to cut through a 2x4 with this knife (and the help of a hammer) and I didn't have much problem getting through it. I have pretty large hands, and I can get a really good grip on the textured pistol grip handle. When you grip it, your index finger underneath is prevented slipping forward onto the blade with the notch that is used for opening. A Very nice design. I would like some "jimping" (notches) on the top of the blade for thumb grip, but it's no big deal, as I still feel very confident with my grip, even on the tough jobs. I also like the clip a lot, no fussy design, just an effective clip. It comes set to tip down in the pocket, and that's the best configuration for this blade with the assisted open, as you just flick your index finger back and the fun begins. The clip can be reversed for tip up carry, if that floats your boat. It can't be transferred to the other side though, I would have liked that option. After all my abuse, this beast is still as solid as it was day one, no movement at all. It is a bit heavy compared to some of my other blades, But I actually like that. Really feels like it can take abuse... and indeed it can. It loves it!!! I got this blade for $15 on a lightning deal, and I feel like I stole it! I would have no regrets paying $40-$50 for this baby. Makes my decision to buy a Kershaw Tremor VERY easy.

I just got this knife today, and I can already tell it's awesome. The assisted blade flies open with little effort and the edge was sharp right out of the box. The pocket clip can be attached point up or down and there is a hole for a lanyard. The knife is kinda heavy compared to most folders at this size, but it helps the knife to not fly out of your hand when flipped open. I can't say if this knife will hold up to abuse, but it seems very well made. I got this knife for $15, one heck of a deal if you ask me. Bottom line, you should buy this knife if you want something that's good quality without having to pay good quality money.
