3.0 out of 5 stars Less than the typical Kershaw quality, but still OK.
I own several Kershaw pocket knives all of which are the more exepensive (double the price of this one or more) type that are made in the USA. This Half Ton is made in China, no the USA, and is of a slightly lesser quality, particularly in the handle. The handle feels like cheap plastic compared to my other Kershaws. Then again, this Half Ton is only around $12, so...

I absolutely love this knife, and at only 15 bucks? Wow! This is easily one of the best value knifes out there.

Pros:
Sized perfectly for every day carry
Smooth opening blade
Thick blade and extremely durable
Good looking
8Cr13MoV steel
Factory sharp
Colorful (hard to lose)
Secure pocket clip
Functional jimping on the handle (best jimping on plastic I've felt)
Heavy duty feel
Price
Easy to use and open
Solid lockup of blade
Relatively low maintenance

Cons:
Blade has no protective coating so it can rust easily
Pocket clip cannot be adjusted
Concave blade style is unnecessary on a blade that wide and small
Point is extremely dull (and not for stabbing at all)
Hard to resharpen

This knife is literally one of the best sized EDC knifes I've ever seen, If Kershaw used a standard flat ground blade, then the blade would be nearly perfect.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good value for the money, April 2, 2010

Good, stout knife for the money. Mine came with a factory edge that was pretty sharp but not polished. The clip which looks like a wrench is kind of different. The 8CR13MOV steel used in the blade has gotten plenty of favorable comments on knife forums.

For the price asked, under $14, this knife is practically disposable. It also ships for free with Amazon Prime. The blade steel is a good quality, the grip is secure, and the red color makes it hard to lose. The clip is secure, and does not interfere with my grip. The blade is thick and stout, and can handle a fair amount of abuse.

I have one I carry every day, and one in each of my cars' emergency kits, as well as a spare.

You CAN find a better knife, no doubt, but at a significantly higher price.

This Half Ton is made in China, no the USA, and is of a slightly lesser quality, particularly in the handle. The handle feels like cheap plastic compared to my other Kershaws. Then again, this Half Ton is only around $12, so it's hard to complain. The quality is otherwise very good with a great thick blade and smooth opening action. The blade is sharp out of the box and well formed, no blemishes or imperfections. Overall a great knife for $12, but if you're looking for the typical overall great package Kershaw typically provides, go with the more expensive models.

5.0 out of 5 stars great feel of control, June 18, 2011

The half ton knife by Kershaw really doesn't weigh a half ton, but it sure feels good in your hand. The feel of control and its' robustness makes it a favorite for outdoors folks.

This knife rocks, especially for the money! I bought this for my dad as an easter present and just after handling it I want one too! The whole blade is sharp, shiny, and buttery smooth to flip opened and closed! This is perfect for carry at work and even on the go! It is rare to see such value at such an affordable price. And you will be hard pressed to find anything else to compare it to! I'd suggest buying em while you can for these prices here, they are worth more really!

The knife is durable overall; but is definitely lacking in the sharpness area. The grip is definitely good for maintaining a tight grip while cutting. All in all, I'd have to say that this item is good purchase if you need a knife to get the job done.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Knife!!, January 31, 2011

I lost my Kershaw Junkyard Dog and was looking to replace it, but wanted something smaller and a little less intimidating for everyday carry. I ended getting this knife and a Benchmade Mini Barrage, which was pricey, and I gotta tell ya......I like this knife better! It just feels great in the hand and is a nice fat little blade. Of course the only thing I dont like is the red and the little wrench clip is kinda lame. I actually cant carry it EDC at work because of those things. The color draws too much attention and the wrench clip is just tacky. With the coated black clip on the Benchmade it looks professorial if you even notice it. But this is an amazing knife for the price. Just buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pocket Rocket, January 27, 2011

This is a great little beater knife for the price. I'd wanted to try out a similarly built knife, which is much more expensive, so this allowed me to check one out at 1/10th the cost. As some others have mentioned, you can practically make this a disposable knife due to the cost, but I think it's a good enough knife to also serve someone well for some tme.

I like the thickness of it and the fat blade. I like a knife that I can really feel in my hand, not something really tiny. I am definitely happy with this purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars Small but durable, January 6, 2011

I bought some knives for the last time but this one inspired me to write a review . This is my first Kershaw knife. Half tone pocket knife is real little bull . It is built pretty good . Knife is easy to open by one hand but before a couple drops of oil can help to smooth flip action . I do not share folks complaints about knife's weight . I think the knife is not heavy .This is a tool made of steel and tool cannot weight like a pen . It feels good in the both right and left hands and in the pocket . Wide blade is sharp enough right from the box . Wrench made pocket clip is sturdy . Price is reasonable(I paid 12.40 $ total ) , quality is nice . Knife is a good for EDC . Police may not worry about you but do not carry it at airports and federal facilities .
