GREAT,
This review is from: Kershaw Junk Yard Dog 2.2 Composite Blade Knife (Sports)
I have a very big knife collection it is over 460 knives and I only have the best knives most are over 200 dollers but I made an exeption with this knife after I felt one at a gun and knife show. This knife is one of the best knives I have ever purchased. It is strong, sharp, good loking, and and is very easy to open. The flipper system is just wonderfull. The composite blade may look a little flimsey but it is really one of the strongest sharpest knives I have ever owned and it looks great.I have had two of these knives the first one i used it for about two years and finally lost it. The second one i got three weeks ago and I am stilol very satisfied.

The blade is very pretty. The flipper action is very smooth and fun to play with. Keep in mind it was a little worse when I first got it, so there may be a quick break in for it to get easy to open without flipping your wrist. The pocket clip is ugly, but I EDC much more useful multi-tools (or a smaller BM mini-grip knife if I do take a knife) so I just took the clip off. I think the black scales are boring and would prefer it came in variety of colors, so I'm in the process of painting them maroon. Overall I'm glad I added this to my knife collection because the blade is unique and the flipper is a mechanism of deployment I didn't have until now and it's quite nice.

Great functional knife easy to use, sharp and with style. Bought as everyday carry and utility knife but sometimes I find this beauty, well almost too nice for everyday work. Used my JYD2 today on my daughter's 7-pt buck and easy-out, good weight, strong and sharp for initial cleaning. Started skinning to see how it handles and if blade was too thick; nope, works great again. Gave it to my 20 something daughter for reminder of her 1-shot-1 kill trophy. Now I gotta get another for me. My 2nd composite blade: have Cold Steel Master Tanto San Mai for 18+ years and it's great too. JYD2 CB; get one, you'll love it.

- Heavy, I feel naked without a thumb stud, In "MY OPINION" the action isn't smooth until opened a few thousand times even after lubing. Clip has a point almost and could really mess up your car interior or rip a couch if not careful.+ I love the size. The handle is nice. The blade is the perfect size for the handle and has a nice shape. Razor sharp out of the box. Holds an edge and sharpens up nice. Overall a nice knife. I'm looking for a full composite blade next to lighten the load. I tend to keep this around the house, and find myself using it a lot.

lost knife after owning less than 2 week due to clip,

I received this knife here in Afghanistan at Forward Operating Base Salerno and loved it. There are lots of great reviews that have the only complaint being the clip design. I had no problems with the looks or shape of the belt/pocket clip. After owning it for less than two weeks the clip easily bent so that it was not secured well to my pocket. While working it easily came out and was lost due to the thin metal the clip is made from being un-sprung and slightly bent out. I bought another but there is no lanyard hole and I may look into drilling a hole for a lanyard after it arrives just to be sure. Great knife but serious problem with the clip.Mike

Great Looking Knife. Just Wasn't The One In The Picture,

I only came across this knife a few days ago and loved the look of it. I watched a few YouTube video reviews on it and people seemed to like it. I generally buy things firstly for how they look and secondly if it's a good product. I just received the knife earlier today to find that it isn't the knife in the picture in this listing. What i have been sent is the newer model of the Junk Yard 2 Composite which you can see on the Kershaw site. It has a slightly different design between the 2 blade steels. The design on the above knife has that little circle design and the knife i received, the newer version, has more of a serrated tooth blade design between the 2 steels. This seems to be happening quite a lot on Amazon lately. A few weeks ago i ordered a pair of Oakley Inmate Polarized sunglasses and what i received was the non-polarized Oakley Inmate sunglasses. After contacting the seller they told me that Amazon sometimes combines listing that it thinks is the same when actually they are 2 different products under the same listing with the same photograph. I'm happy with the knife and i'm sure it's a great knife. There are no problems with it and it was shipped pretty fast. I just thought i'd let people know that they may not get the exact same looking knife they think they are ordering. I suggest you go look at the Kershaw site and look at the new JYD 2 before you order it on Amazon because that's probably what you'll end up being sent.

I have many knives and am a collector of "reasonably priced" functional knives. I recently misplaced my Kershaw Leek that was my EDC knife and of course I needed to replace it right away. I have always liked Kershaw knives and feel that they hit the sweet spot as far as price and quality goes. When I purchased the JYD 2 Composite, I had a few concerns.1. Is it too big for practical EDC?- No,the knife is pushing the limits of size for a practical EDC, but fits nicely in my pocket and still allows me to fit my big hands in my pockets to fish out my keys. The ergonomic design of the knife means that it handles like a smaller knife, allowing precise control with far greater cutting power than a smaller knife. 2. Will I miss the Speedsafe assisted opening that my last two EDCs had?- No, the flipper works great, and unlike others, mine was smooth and quick right out of the box. It doesn't even require a wrist flick to open (but adding a wrist flick will make it lock into place with a more authoritative sound, which some people like.) 3. Is the pocket clip total crap?- Not total crap. It is not the best clip design. It does ride a bit high in my pocket, but not excessively. It is rather large and noticeable and I could see the somewhat pointy tip causing some wear damage to my pants over time from sitting or squatting. I will probably replace or modify the clip eventually, but it works for now. This knife has a comfortable handle that fits my hand well. The texture on the scales is very shallow and small, but provides excellent grip even when your hands are covered with chicken grease (don't ask). The handle shape, and the position of the flipper when opened provide an nice deep choil that prevents your hand from sliding forward onto the blade and provides good retention. The blade is strong and has the sharpest edge I have ever seen on a knife! The blade has just enough belly to make it an excellent slicer. I have already put this blade through some heavy use and abuse and it is still as sharp as the day I got it.

The flipper is fun and fast. The handle is confortable and gives good purchace. The liner lock is thick and inspires confidence. The composite blade has a unique look that comes sharp and stays that way through a lot of use. I think the pocket clip is ugly although it is functional. The knife also needs a lanard hole. This knife is a fantastic slicer.

Very sharp blade and a superb overall look. Has a good balance and heft. Was a bit larger than I expected and that is a good thing, the other JYD I have is much smaller. I love the unusual look of the two types of steel used for the blade. It opened quite well with a pull of my finger and a flick of my wrist. A nice knife to show off.
