5.0 out of 5 stars Great knife!, May 10, 2010

This is one Bad $%S knife. It has a great grip. It fits in my hand perfect, and is also perfectly balanced. It's sharp as a razor. It flips out with the greatest of ease and locks up strong. It's very well made. Get one, you won't be disappointed. I will say this. It's a big knife. If you don't like big pocket knives, this one might be to too much for you to handle.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best edge holding blade ever, period!, February 6, 2011
By
This review is from: Kershaw Junkyard Dog II Pocket Knife with Textured gray G-10 Handle (Sports)
Length:: 1:14 Mins

This is a short video on the Kershaw Junk Yard dog II. I got this knife for Christmas 2010 and it is now February 6th. This knife holds an edge like no knife I have ever owned. The high tech steel on the edge CPM-D2 is super hard and resistant to getting dull. The knife gets a great reaction from everyone who sees it. The best part is that it stays so sharp for a long time. My left forearm is almost hairless from showing people how sharp the blade is. Now in all fairness the edge on my knife is not from the factory. I have a sharpening setup that leaves a blade sharper than a surgical knife. But the business here is that this is the first knife I have ever owned that actually holds this edge for weeks and weeks of tough everyday use. I use this knife like crazy. The daily cutting list includes all the mail, road stabilization mat, boxes, the occasional steak at dinner, some rope and webbing, tones of plastic bubble packaging around products, most of the hair off my left arm and it's still going after six weeks. My hat is off to whoever invented CPM-D2!
The handle on this knife is very good. I'm a hunter and I can easily see myself opening up pigs and deer with this knife. If anyone from Kershaw reads this please make another knife with this steel for skinning form factor of the Buck Omni Hunter 10 PT.

Thanks Kershaw for a wonderful product,

David Lucas

This knife is a little large. But is the most comfortable and best design pocket knife I've ever owned. And as always with Kershaws you can shave hair with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars forged perfection, April 28, 2011
This review is from: Kershaw Junkyard Dog II Pocket Knife with Textured gray G-10 Handle (Sports)
I have 86 knives and I have had over 50 others(lets not discuss what this says about me ...). I have alot of older knives with magnificent carbon steel that hold their edge like few knives these days. Out of all of those blades this is one of the 5 best. Ive had it a few years and it has never been nor become dull. I am of the opinion that sharpness begins at shaving and though I use the Dog rigorously, when I routinely sharpen it with a few licks it is sharper than ever. It is now dangerously sharp for the novice( no one barrows this knife-law suits ya know).
The snap opening cam feels right and works perfectly everytime. It is heavy and made for large hands (if you have smaller hands or prefer smaller try the original JYD) and can be completely disassembled with ease. Not a bit of rust has ever appeared on the non-reflective blade or the thick steel frame. The construction is tight and probably not even dimes will creep into it in your pocket.
The pocket-belt clip is unique; it is as high as the handle, made of strong spring steel and removable. It is 8.6" overall and has a 3.75" blade that is 1,25" high and the top is tapered finely. It is finely balanced and comfortable even with the clip. A nice touch is the construction date on the cam.
Its an incredible knife that can help save your life in several situations. And ,depending on the scenereo and your abilites, and cosidering its 7 ounce weight, you could just beat the hell out of something with it.
