5.0 out of 5 stars Custom knife quality w/ top end production knife price..., April 6, 2010
This review is from: Kershaw Knives Nakamura Folder, Quince Wood Handle, Plain (Misc.)
I am a pretty active/rabid collector/owner of folding knives (some, including my wife, call it an addiction). That being said, I currently own over 100 pocket folders w/ the avg price point ranging from $75-$450 knives. I think the Kershaw Nakamura rates up there w/ any of my highest priced knives and I landed it brand new on Ebay for about $100. Great quality blade steele, w/ beautiful custom looking copper deisgn inlays coupled w/ the burl wood scales. The knife has excellent action and has an easy/short "throw" (knife speak/vernacular for the fluid movement of the blade opening w/ an easy toss/flick of the wrist - footnote - verbiage/term stems from Jim Borto in Princeton, NJ). The knife is wicked sharp and I get more comments on the artist beaty of the overall knife than I do on a couple of the custom folders I owe.....I can't say enough good stuff about the knife and wish Kershaw would go make a few more of these tier knife (although, I am happy to own over 20 other Kershaws and many variations of the Leeks, Scallions, etc). Keep up the great work and you will not be dissappointed in the knife if you decide to partake and buy one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best knife purchase I ever made, June 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Kershaw Knives Nakamura Folder, Quince Wood Handle, Plain (Misc.)
Normally, Kershaw's knives don't do much to catch my attention but this knife is different than what they generally offer. I wanted a classy looking EDC knife with some premium steel at a price I could live with, especially since my knives get used.

For your consideration: the 1480 Nakamura.

I've bought other knives at this price point (which is about as much as I could ever justify) and have come away disappointed. This knife is worth every penny and then some. A perfect size for everyday carry, with a blade made from VG-10 laminated between 420HC, the knife delivers the cutting performance and edge retention I was looking for along with increased rust resistance at a lower cost. The Mokume-style bolsters (copper and brass layered into stainless steel) and the very handsome Quince burl handle give the knife a custom and very classic look. The blade came razor sharp and has just a hint of a recurve. When tested, this knife could shave hair and then some, cutting effortlessly.

Kershaw should have never let this one go and you should get it while you have the chance.
