This is a decent little pocket knife, it came to me sharp out of the box. This is a great EDC knife, just big enough but not too big. There's really nothing bad to say about this knife, although mine did come with the pivot screw a tad too tight so the knife wasn't opening as fast as it should have. It wasn't a problem though because I had a torx driver and loosened the screw.

One thing buyers should be aware of is the color of this knife, the Amazon pictures show it being a bright red when it's a darker colored red. So if you're buying this knife hoping for it to be the same red in the picture you might be disappointed. I was aware of this before my purchase but you might want to take it into consideration.

After searching for a long time to replace my last (lost) everyday pocket knife, I was extremely pleased when I first found/handled the Scallion. It's slim design allowed for me to upgrade to a slightly larger knife than I was carrying before, without a noticible difference in carryability. I wear suits or slacks every day, and don't even know it's there.
I really like the assisted opening *for my purposes*; the position your hand is in after using the opening mechanism is not a "Tactical" grip, but a utilitarian grip ready to work, slice, open packaging, chop, or many other things I do around work, not engage in hand to hand combat, there are other knives for that. I don't use the "tip lock" and have never had it open in my pocket; however it's nice to know it's there if I need it. Construction is superb, as is the finish and the hair shaving razor blade edge that came from the factory. This is on par with every Kershaw I've ever owned. I highly reccomend Kershaw products, and think this is an excellent item.

It's finally here, after a slight mishap. ONTRAC claims they delivered my package although I never received anything; I reported the problem to Amazon and they quickly resolved the issue with out question and that is why I love shopping here. Amazon replaced the item and upgraded it to UPS next day air!

On to the knife, It's everything I could ask for in an EDC. Small but not tiny, built tough, perfect sized and very sharp blade, and ease of opening. The only complaint I have is Amazon is advertising the blade without holes but I received the blade that contains 3 holes up-top, although this doesn't affect my views towards the blade others might not like it. The red scales are dark...very dark, nothing like the picture so keep that in mind while selecting a color, I much prefer the darker look compared to the brighter looking red in the picture.

Something that would make this knife a 100 times better would be a black powder coated blade on red scales..Imagine that!

In summary, great knife get it and you won't regret it one bit. As always excellent customer service on Amazons part!!

Although I didnt buy this knife on amazon I was compelled to write a review on it anyway. I have the model 1620RDSO which has SNAP-ON written on it. I bought mine from the SNAP-ON truck over 5 years ago and aside from damaging the tip making the safety lock useless after resharpenning it it has been one of the best knives I have yet ownned . I have had people laugh when I tell them I keep it razor sharp until I show them that it really is . This knife holds it's edge very well and is the standard in which I comepare all othe knives too. If you are looking for a folding knife you can't go wrong with any of the KERSHAW's . You can't beat the quality for the price.

I've owned three of these knives, and bought around four or so additional simply as presents. My most recent of my three (the other two are lost somewhere) was purchased exactly 5 years ago as of this writing, and is still as solid as the day I bought it. I've carried it probably 350 days out of 365 every year since I bought it, and the blade stays nice and sharp while also being easy to sharpen.

I've never had it open in my pocket, and to be honest I've even removed the safety because it seems unnecessary to me. The assisted opening is not easy to trigger accidentally, so I'd just as soon not have a safety.

The steel used on the knife (420HC) is a nice steel, but by no means a supersteel (like 440C or S30V). If I could improve the knife I would give it a higher-quality steel, but then you'd probably be doubling the price. For the price this knife cannot be beat.

The finish kindof reminds me of a powdercoat (apparently it's anodized aluminum), but the finish is still 100% intact after 5 years.

The short story: You'll probably do like me and lose the knife way before you retire it.

Yep! Flicks open with hardly any effort! Holds a fine edge and does not take up a lot of space in your pocket. I always have one handy because you never know when you'll need it! I own several of these and have also given them as gifts. A good knife is like a good friend, they won't let you down!

I am writing this review in 2013 and I was just looking for when I bought this knife (2009) to finally send in for service. I wear this knife everyday (except if traveling via airport - but they held onto it for me the one time I made this mistake). I generally use for opening things and cutting things (this being a knife and all) and for opening beer bottles on an as needed basis. As a corn breeder I use to cut back silks since I can open 1 handed and close one handed quickly without stabing myself or others. After 4 years the speed safe (which was awesome and extremely handy to open one-handed) does not appear to be working very well - although I can still open quickly with thumb screw. Overall, I love the way this fits in the hand, love the size, love the blade shape, love the pocket clip, love that it was razor sharp, love that the paint has held up over four years and multiple laundry cycles (sorry dear - but critically - it never opened in the machine)!
I would highly recommend.

Let me start off saying that I think Kershaw is a great knife company and have been really happy with every thing I have bought from them.

So the knife I received was just as described and looks fantastic. The Blade is very shard and opens smoothly. The inner lock is tight but easy enough to close with one hand. It also has a blade lock so it can't open on its own when it is closed, which I found very useful. The coating on the handle is very durable and doesn't scratch easily.

One thing that I didn't expect was it is a small pocket knife (not a standard size one). At first I was a little disappointed but the more I fondled it and got use to it the happier I became with the size.

I own a lot of knives from your cheap little ones to your high quality "Benchmade" and I have to say you really get a amazing knife for the price you pay with Kershaw (especially off of Amazon) and this knife fallows suit.

I have carried this model of knife for over 5 years because I love it so much. I periodically lose them or have to throw them out in airport security lines, but I always come back to it. Super quick and easy to open with one hand, stays sharp for a long time and is the perfect size for carrying in your front pocket. Also feels good in the hand and the handle can be used to open bottles if you know how to work it.

Nice looking knife, the finish of the handle is great, doesn't feel like it will chip or be damaged very easily or at all. The latch to release the blade works smoothly and the overall quality of the knife; workmanship is superb. The blade is extremely sharp, the clip is substantial & the opening is smooth & quick. Delivery was very prompt, packaging excellent, no complaints.
