3.0 out of 5 stars good knife, misleading ad
The knife is great (five star), don't get me wrong, but the ad is a misrepresentation of how nice the knife is.

The knife I was sent was the 2010 version, so the blade shape is different (it is now hollow ground, and the spine goes further down the blade). Also the steal is different; it is 8cr13mov, not aus6 (8cr13mov is stamped on the tang of the knife)...

The blade came pretty sharp, not as sharp as my leek but still pretty sharp. Can easily cut through paper but was not sharp enough to shave with. Love the assisted opening feature and the size. Fits great in my pocket and is the perfect size for an EDC knife.

A great deal for $24 bucks.

5.0 out of 5 stars For $22 its a steal, February 18, 2010

Like the title says, for $22 buying this knife makes you feel like you're stealing it. Here is why:

- solid construction
- opens nice and firm
- big 3.5" blade
- price

Cons:

The pocket clip is too damn strong. (its going to shred pant pockets if you keep it long enough)

I guess I cannot blame Amazon; everywhere I have checked has the same ad, and the same picture (of the old one) while they are in all probability, selling the new one.

I've had this knife for a couple weeks and used it every day. It is very similar to the Kershaw Volt II. The Speedsafe assisted opening is not spring driven like several reviewers have said. It is driven by a wedge of steel so in my opinion is more durable than a spring. The deployment is auto-quick. The synthetic handle material is shaped very nicely and feels comfortable. The flipper is very easy to use. Like all Kershaws it came razor sharp. The only negative is the lack of jimping. The nearly identical Volt II has nice jimping so I slightly prefer it over the OSO Sweet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great but not perfect, January 23, 2011
I just want to point out the 2010 version's steel 8cr13mov is a better steel than the older AUS6A(420J) steel, to complain about the blade steel in the new Oso Sweet is none sense. I personally like the new 2010 version, Kershaw rep said in the near future they'll stick with 8cr13MOV for imported blade(chinese made), this steel is similar in performance to AUS8 steel from JAPAN, Of course if you want even better steel like VG10/SV30 you'll have to pay more.

This is the best spring assisted knife I have seen for the money. I like it better than the more expensive Kershaw knives that I own. The knife has a strong spring, so it opens with a snap. The blade is sharp, right out of the box. I only wish it was a little longer, but for the money it is a very good buy.

The Kershaw Oh So Sweet, or OSO Sweet is on of those blades that just really work across all spectrum's of the board, Light, great sized handle, nice long blade with an amazingly adept point, assisted opener, nice deep carry, razor sharp and at an amazing price.

now for some downsides, they are changing the metal type so you can't really be sure what you get, Aus6, 8Cr13Mov, and one or two more other types, all of these are great metal types... the 8Cr13Mov is slightly better at wear and tear than Aus6 but not as resistant to rusting, if you are in a humid or saltwater area this might be an issue for you, i recommend something like Duracoat or Duplicoat to assist in that if it comes up.

Second issue, this is pretty much a right handed knife, it has no left side and while it has the holes tapped for tip up/tip down carry the bolts holding it in place are a nightmare to get out.

and finally the assisted opener is a bit of a duck if the tension bolt is tightened down too much, i actually ripped the skin off my finger the first time i tried to open it because it was way to tight.

all of these things are capable of being overcome and should be, this is one of those blades that is really really REALLY worth the time and effort, i highly recommend it.

Great knife for a great price!

My mother in law got me this for Christmas 2011 and I love this knife. The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't have a thumb catch to open it with, but that is very minor as the horn on the lower part of the blade is easy to push and the blade swings out very fast. That horn is part of the blade and it makes a good "hilt" (folders don't have proper hilts though) for your finger to rest up against while cutting or thrusting. The lines of the blade are very nice in my opinion, and the smooth edge will be easy to sharpen, but I loath the idea of taking off the factory edge.

The pocket clip is very stiff/firm, which is a good thing because it will not move or fall off of what it's clipped to without a bit more pressure than most require but it is still easy to get out. The handle is comfortable and offers excellent grip.

The sharpness of this blade out of the box cannot be overstated, it is VERY sharp in addition to being a well designed blade, so it will cut easily through just about anything you're likely to need it for with little effort. Just as an example, I was using it to cut a chicken leg off of a thigh yesterday and it cut through the bone joint so easily that I'd though it missed the bone, then I pulled out my plastic fork (eating at a dining facility in Afghanistan) and there were tines missing because it cut through the fork and the bone effortlessly!

The price with this knife on sale made me buy two more immediately after Christmas, but even at full price this knife is easily worth it (but I refuse to pay full price for anything anymore). If it's on sale I will buy more for gifts and just to keep an extra for myself because I like it even better than my other bigger and more expensive Kershaw. I trust this knife enough to keep it with me in Afghanistan for general all around use and as a last ditch defense against the random Jackal or wild dog that sometimes wanders onto the base (the ~3" blade is long enough to be a decent defensive weapon if you have need). It deploys smoothly and more quickly than any other spring assisted knife I've had, it looks great (better in person than in the pics), and most importantly it cuts well.

Also, the extra two shipped and arrived within the same 5 day period, I was pleasantly surprised.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best EDC in the $20.00 range, January 9, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Kershaw OSO Sweet Knife with Stainless-Steel Blade and Nylon Handle (Sports)
I bought this knife because I was looking for a cheap, durable assisted opening EDC knife, and I was not disappointed. This knife arrived nearly razor sharp, and as said in other reviews, the blade is 8Cr13MoV steel. This knife is very lightweight but also durable, and it can be taken apart with torx bits if necessary, there's no rivets to make your life difficult. I did notice on Amazon and a few other sites people complained about the clip - I would just like to say that compared to other knives of a similar size, the clip is much smaller (attracting less odd looks from people when it's in my pocket) and has not yet ruined any of my pants pockets like my old EDC. In conclusion - I have only owned this knife for a short while, but at the current price it is the best general purpose work knife that I know of. Immediately after purchasing my own, I ordered two more for my father and my brother. Neither of them have any complaints either.

Update - One thing I forgot - I decided to toy with the tension on the blade by tightening the bolt that holds it on, only to find that even minor variances from the stock tension make the blade open either too slow or too sloppily. I highly recommend not adjusting the tension until it becomes necessary through day to day use - it took me a few minutes to find that perfect spot where it opens effortlessly and quickly after I messed with it.

I like the knife enough; I ordered two more for stocking stuffers. The knife is real nice and for $20 delivered to your door, you will be hard to find better. I have the Kershaw Clash and the Gerber Fast Draw; I rate this knife better than both. There have been improvements made from the 2010 model and it is a stunning knife to look at, but there are small improvements I would make for grip and carrying.

Overall this is a very nice knife and I highly recommend it for anyone from the average Joe who wants an everyday pocket knife to the avid outdoors man. Don't get me wrong with the 4 star rating; you would be hard to find any knife even close to this price that would get a 5 star rating from me. This is the best pocket knife around for the price.
