This knife is awesome. Sharp as a razor, takes and holds a edge very well. Excellent quality knife. Blade is mounted firmly, feels like a fixed blade knife when open. Fits average size hand very comfortably. Very smooth action with a crisp click when it locks open. Knife is held together with hex head hardware, can be completely diassembled for cleaning. Tension can be adjusted on blade to facilitate opening. Knife is a little on hefty side (over 4 oz)due to the fact is is all stainless steel no plastic handles here. Tanto is not as ergonomical as a standard shaped blade. However a tanto is perfect for self-defence as this style blade is more suited for stabbing and slashing motions. This is a serious knife, not for someone who keeps a knife just to scrape their finger nails. Would recommend to a friend and purchase again myself.

I have owned and have been carrying the Kershaw Tanto Groove knife for just over a month now. The knife arrived packaged and protected well. The purchasing and shipping were both easy and expediant. I have no complaints from Amazon with this transaction at all. Now to the knife! I wanted an everyday carry knife that could be depended upon for every day cutting chores as well as defense if (goodness forbid) the issue should arise. I also had the stipulation that it couldn't break the bank. After some looking around I settled on either a kershaw JYD or the groove and decided upon the groove just because it looks so unique.
The knife feels very good in the hand and should fit a wide variety of hand sizes in my opinion. The G-10 overlays on the handle provide and excellent gripping surface even when the hand is wet. The ridges on the butt of the handle (for the thumb to rest on I BELIEVE when the knife is held in the reverse grip) are rounded and do not abrade the hand or slow one from drawing the knife when it is in your pocket. The blade is easy to deploy despite the absence of a thumb stud. It takes a little practice to get used to but the learning curve is a short one. Once deployed the liner locker is rock solid and I feel comfortable with it after using the knife. The blade comes razor sharp. Literally. Will handily shave the hair from your arm right out of the box and the the grooves in the blade and inward curve offer a funky design to the tried and true 'tanto' design. As for cutting all i can offer is that it makes quick work of everyday cutting chores (rope, 550 cord, boxes, impromptu letter opener). The weight is such that you forget you have it in your pocket until you need it and the pocket clip is a sturdy little thing that takes an amount of breaking in. It is very stiff but it will hold the knife in your pocket without ANY problems. All in all if you are looking for a rock solid pocket folder that will take on any chores i would highly recommend this knife.

This is a beautiful knife. It has the perfect weight, a unique solid handle, and a blade that all your friends will want to take a closer look at. The pocket clip can be moved to right hand point up or point down. Does not have left hand option, but I still gave it a 5 because I am right handed so I don't care. A must have for anyone who likes knives. Keep it as your EDC or put it on display. It is functional and great looking. I don't know how to convey to you how impressed you will be with this knife. I would gladly pay double what I paid on Amazon, and you will not be disappointed.

The absolute best knife i have ever owned. However, be aware that the knife in the picture is not the one you get. You get the black on black newer model version with the wavy handle. Still awesome though.

Ready to Get Your Groove On? This blade from Kershaw is called the Groove - the blade doesn't have a smooth grind, instead the concave cut is crenulated like a rippled potato chip. Another distinctive feature of the Groove is that there are no thumb studs or nail nicks on the blade. The only way to open it is the flipper extension on the blade tang. I just got this, so at present it takes a flick of the wrist along with the flipper to get the knife open; but I suspect the flipper alone will be sufficient in a day or so. And if I need to, the tightness of the blade pivot is adjustable at the pivot screw. And the black DLC finish plus the arched profile of the tanto blade make this knife's appearance a Terror. A+ for Kershaw on this R.J.Martin design!

This knife is the best pocket knife I have owned, the craftsman-ship is unmatched. I have a few Kershaw knives and they never disappoint. The Tanto shape is a standout when I whip this out to cut something, people always asking where I got it and how much it was. This knife is self promoting, not only does it look cool, but with the grooved material on the blade and the slight arch she looks like she costs a fortune. The grip is just amazing, I could not ask for a better layout, nothing beats finger grooves and the best guard I have seen on a pocket knife. Now this is a flip Blade, some people may not like this when there are many Kershaw spring assisted blades out there, but let me tell you I can have this thing out of my pocket and extended faster than most people can say the word Kershaw. The blade flicks out with ease and makes a nice loud CLICK sound when she hits her full extension. People nearby know you brought something out with that click and the fast whip to open her up. She can cut thru most simple materials, cans, plastics, wood and if needed for defense I could see her standing up well to an opponent. Next time you have a few bucks to blow on a FINE AMERICAN MADE knife, check out this Kershaw.

This is by far the best pocket knife I have ever owned for 50 bucks. The blade and handle are awesome. The design by RJ Martin really stands out among other high priced competitors. A very sturdy and smooth, yet viscous design. I have owned a Kershaw Blackout (serrated) for over 8 years and it finally caved on me. I paid more than $80.00 for it. This TANTO GROOVE knife was a far better deal and feels way sturdier than the Blackout. Really impressed with the level of detail that got put into the knife. GREAT BUY! A must have for any tool fanatic. You will be happy. Very sharp right out of the box. Razor sharp. I liked this one so much that I went ahead and bought the plain GROOVE with the drop point blade. And it was cheaper than the TANTO. That way I have another AWESOME blade to replace this one once it breaks in about 10 years. Get this knife while you can. Kershaw has once again built an EXCELLENT tool. I highly recommend this knife for anyone looking for a great cutting tool with an awesome price tag. Thanks Kershaw, RJ Martin and Amazon.

I was looking for a daily carry knife and knowing the Kershaw brand, I bought this RJ Martin design as well as a Leatherman Skeletool. I was used to carrying the Leatherman and one day I took the Kershaw instead and never looked back. What's most impressive about the Kershaw is the quality of this knife as compared to other knives costing close to double the price. The G-10 bolsters,the sculpturing on the blade, Tanto point and the quality and number of hardware used to put the whole thing together i feel will please the most critical eye. The knife is light enough in the pocket that you don't feel it. I haven't sharpened it yet so I can't really comment on the hardness of the blade, although it seems to hold an edge at least as well as higher priced offerings. All in all, the quality of this Kershaw for the price (around $50) represents a good value for my wallet.

This is the best knife I have owned. The quality is evident immediately--it's a little bit heavier than some other knives because it is built to last. This is a no-frills, quality knife with a great non-stick grip and easy flip-out action. The grip is definitely suited for bigger hands.

Made in USA and it looks really cool--a lot better than it does on Amazon. Highly recommend.

I already have the kershaw ken onion leek, but I'm glad I bought this. This knife is sturdy and solid. A great personal protection knife. Love the flip open system. Awsome grip area. I would recommend this knife to anyone.
