These songs are emblazoned on my soul ever since my mother (now 82) played them for my sister and I. Each every cut (on her 33rpm album now unplayable for years of listening) left mystical moments and cherished memories for us all. Would love to be able to purchase 2 more copies if the label re-released "In a Persian Market, etc./Faris, London Proms". Anyone looking for a treasury of magical soul-lifting music should be sure to purchase this classic.

Simply, excellent album. The music of Ketelbey is inspiring, calm and takes us to special and misterious places. Don't miss this CD.

I was introduced to Ketelbey's work by the late Guillermo Figueroa of the famous Figueroa Family group from Puerto Rico. In the few couple of years I worked assisting him, then the conductor for a Youth Chamber Music Orchestra, Don Guillermo helped me rediscover good classical and contemporary music, and introduced me to some great works like the one in review. The recordings are old school but the music is haunting, timeless and beautiful. I highly recommend this cd, and like Don Guillermo told me about 10 years ago: "Give it a chance, you don't have to be a great musician to appreciate great music"

How right was He!

First heard Persian Market on old WGMS AM in Washington 45 years ago. Finally located recent CD, which is great stereo mastered in Frankfurt, and the whole album is great for background. Ketelbey doesn't seem to exist for smaller classic stations not having a large library. This is the kind of stuff you would get on the old WQXR. Amazon comes thru again!

Soothing return to basic harmonics of Life's wriggle through an otherwise (perhaps !?) chaotic Universe, peace within the soul and a happiness in just listening to echoes of a bygone and more gentle, kindly and introspective age now forever evaporated, unless one find it within, and to that end, this music may surprise anyone with the heart to listen-in.

This is a beautiful piece of classical music.

I had this in Vinyl and bought the CD so I could continue enjoying it.

So I bought it twice! That's how much I like it.

It's peaceful, and mystic with a touch of oriental.

I highly recommend.
