My grandson loves this digger - has it in a big pea-gravel patch, and took it to the beach last week. It was fairly easy for the two of us to put together - at 4, he was able to interpret the pictoral instructions and find various parts.

The flaws: There is one bolt on the arm that is impossible to finger-tighten, and it took some asking around to borrow an adjustable wrench small enough to use. And the wheelbase could be a little broader. My grandson has to brace with his feet when the arm is extended.

Overall, the quality is good. Some of the plastic parts seem perhaps a little lacking in heft, but it's probably good for a couple of years of play.

I got this as a birthday present for my girlfriend's son for his 5th birthday. he went gaga over it, and used it constantly in the sand box. It is fairly sturdy and easy to use. It hold a decent amount of weight. I could sit on it and I'm 175lbs and it held up. It's a great toy!

I chose this over other diggers based on the good name of Kettler. But I'm still surprise even after a month of Hard use by my rough and tough 5 and 2 year old how this toy holds up. We've had no ,issues, and Love it.

My sons loves this excavator. It was a little hard to put together since it came from Germany and only had pictures to go by but I was able to put it together anyway.

My 3 year old son loves this. It's very sturdy and can really dig (in soft dirt or sand only) it won't break ground though. It's easy to maneuver & he fits on it perfectly; in fact it's a little big for him, and he's a big three year old too(45lbs, & 3.5 ft tall) It's the perfect size for my 7 year old who also plays with it. I wish it wasn't so expensive though. As nice as it is, I have to say that it IS overpriced. But if you're like me & know that your kid would love it, you won't be sorry if you get it for him.

my grandson loves this at age 2 . It is a little difficult to climb onto the seat and maneuver the scoop but he can practice and use it in the snow or beach sand for scooping up.As he gets a little older he will have complete command of the cat.I recommend it for age 2 and up but age 3 would probably be best.

I like the product . It appears to be well-made .The directions were just ok ! It didn't take long to assemble . The "smoke Stack" muffler on seat is easily knocked off .

My grandson loves all digging equipment. So, when I saw this on a website I knew this was the perfect gift. I gave this Kettle digger to my 2 yr old grandson. HE LOVES IT!! It is in his sandbox and he uses it everyday. I put it together my self - great directions. The delivery was quick and the price was right too. I know it is for 3yr+ but he is doing well with it. It is very sturdy - I look forward to him getting a lot of playing time with it. Thanks.

It's durable plastic - dirt can be washed off & won't grind the wheels. Watch the arm-lock though - if the arm is up & the lock is released, the arm drops quickly & the lock snaps back. After a pinch - they'll hold their fingers back.

Helpful hint...the silver caps that go on the end of the axles...put the cap on concrete floor, the axle in the cap & hit with hammer straight on. Then goes the wheel, the black tube, through the base, black tube, wheel & then silver cap. Turn it over so the loose cap is on the floor, have someone hold the contraption for you while you hit the cap on the other end.

Assembly aside, my 3-year old nephew LOVED this toy. Because it will hold up to 75 lbs, it should last him a few years - better than the ones that only hold up to 45 lbs. When he saw it he said "I've been thinking about an excavator all day! This is just what I wanted!" We spent the rest of the afternoon digging up "buried pirate treasure" in the yard. Well worth the price.

Great little product with easy assembly. Nice and stable. You need to make sure you don't over-tighten the bolts of little kids will have trouble working the mechanisms.
