Kettler Ergo Racer Review, January 16, 2007
I bought the Kettler Ergo a couple of years ago to do indoor training when the weather gets bad. Quickly -
Pros: *Very solid feeling. The eddy current wheel is very smooth, quiet, and provides plenty of resistance when you dial up the watts. Good adjustment possible on both seat and handle bars.
Cons: *For the money, you'd expect software included. I paid over $1,500 and that rankled me that it is not included. *Outdated serial port interface on unit. Few new computers have these. I just recently purchased a Serial-USB converter cable. Finally I can see if I can get the 3rd party software to see if it will work.
Overall: Very satisfied. I prefer a solid, quiet trainer that works to a noisy, cruddy one with good software.

I am very happy with this bike, but maybe not all people will be, April 11, 2009
This review is from: Kettler Ergoracer GT Indoor Cycling Bike (Sports)
I got my bike almost two years ago. I did a very extensive market research before I decided to buy this bike. I am 40 y.o. 6',4'' 190 lb, I use the bike three to four time a week. The bike is very sturdy, very stabile, very quiet and smooth, very adaptable, simply a pleasure to ride. The seat, the front are very adjustable, it fits nicely for me, my wife and my 12 year old soon. I pedal about 50% standing-up and about 50% sitting, I get about 1200 cal in 45 min with an average heart rate 140-150 hbpm. For me this is really a great bike, and I am very happy. It is also gives a very similar feeling to a real bike, i.e. on a flat surface, or on a mild incline. The bike is about 170lb, however they are very nice front wheels that allow you to move it easily around the house. I like that.
However, I think if I am younger, or if I am a more serious athlete the resistance that this bike offers might not be enough. Except for the first 5-10 warm-up, I do all my spinning at 400-600 watts, what is 65 to 100% max for this bike. I would really like if this bike has about 20% more resistance, something that can mimic 8 % incline. To increase resistance sometimes I do my biking with a 10-20 lb vest. Unfortunately it can get too hot under such west. A good alternative are ankle weights.
The display is nice and big, well organized. If you stop pedaling at any moment it will give you an average value for all of your workout parameters . I do miss an option that will plot my workout parameters in time. However very few bikes have that.
I give this bike 5 stars, since it gives me everything I want and I really enjoy it, however for professional athletes this might not be enough. Alternative option is vision-fitness bike that costs about 30% more. For my needs, and for any person who is not a professional athlete, I would buy the same product again if I have to without hesitation.
PS. I do not know how difficult is to assemble this thing since my was assembled in a shop where I got it.,
