1.0 out of 5 stars Missing feature from description
It is a great bike. The only reason I give bad rating is because the feature twice mentioned in the description doesn't exist in this model. This is 3-in-1 Auto-Freewheel and it was one of the main reasons I chose this model. The sellers website has the same model but with more modest description. I would return the bike, but I already assembled it.

We bought two of these for our twin two-year-old girls. They have loved playing on them, and I use the handles all the time to take walks around the neighborhood. This particular Kettler has the following pros and cons:

Cons: The handle is misrepresented in the image. It is a straight bike handle type grip, not the special round parent grip represented in the photo. The front wheel does not lock like the higher end Kettler trikes. As a result, parents may need to tip the tricycle back slightly to steer.

Pros: This is a very sturdy tricycle. The frame is steel with a sturdy plastic seat and the wheels are rubber. The frame has a low center of gravity to reduce tipping risk and nicely fits the smaller child. The colors are very appealing to little girls. The handle is very useful (particularly when you have to manipulate more than one at a time and prevent toddlers from rolling downhill) and easy to remove. My girls love the bucket on the back to carry their various treasures. The lower price (compared to the higher end Kettlers) is much more in line with the high end Radio Flyers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Adorable and sturdy, May 18, 2008

Very well-made tricycle. Seems to ride smoothly. Our daughter loves the bucket, because she can take her dolls for her ride. The push-bar wasn't as useful as I thought it would be. Using it didn't allow our daughter to feel the sensation of propelling herself forward -- pushing the tricycle with the bar moved the pedals, so she didn't have to work and didn't initially grasp the concept of pedalling. Thus, we didn't use the bar after that and she figured it out.

We initially purchased the Kiddieland Winnie the Pooh tricycle from Sam's Club, but returned it because the train didn't work and the trike was poor quality. My niece commented that it seemed like the trike would tip over every time she turned a corner.

I wanted a better quality tricycle, so I ordered this one from Amazon. It's wonderful! Much higher quality, and sturdier. My daughter (age 12 months) loves to be pushed through the house on this trike, or pushed around outside. If you have a younger child, I'd definitely recommend purchasing the seatbelt. My daughter reaches for it as soon as she sits on the seat. The one downside is that you can't lock the pedals if your little one is too young to self-propel. My daughter hurt her foot the first time we put her on it. She's learned to pick her feet up and put them on the center bar, or we slightly tilt the trike so that only the rear wheels are on the ground and the pedals don't move. I haven't tried purchasing the footrest since other reviewers had difficulty with it.

The description states that trike has 3-in-1 Freewheel. However, after assembling we found that it did not have this feature. Trike is very nice quality and sturdy. We do not want to spend the time disassembling to return. We are fairly disappointed at this time with our purchase, but we are satisfied that our daughter will grow into a nice trike eventually. I would just advise others to be aware of this fact if the freewheel feature is a reason for your purchase.

My 2 year old daughter loves this tricycle. My older son (8yrs), also got a Kettler tricycle when he was 2. It is still in great shape, and he actually still uses it! My daughter loves the compartment on the back, she puts her "baby" there. The bike is great, very sturdy, but I wish I would have spent the extra money on the tricycle that stops the pedals from moving when the parent pushes the tricycle w/the push bar.

This tricycle is a quality product. My 2 year old granddaughter fits on it perfectly - it is adjustable and even comes with tools for assembly, which took only 20 minutes. Extremely satisfied.

I bought this adorable tricycle for my granddaughter's 2nd birthday. She absolutely loves it and carts around her dolls and stuffed animals in the basket. She can reach the pedals, unlike other tricycles on the market. I also bought her the Disney princess horn and she loves it too. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Tricycle, June 26, 2009
This review is from: Kettler Kettrike Alana Tricycle with Pushbar (Toy)
I read other reviews on this bicycle and decided to buy it. This bicycle is designed well and does not fall over like the other radio flyer tricycle I had bought. It was easy to put together. I like the pushbar so I can help steer the tricycle. My daughter is 3 and loves the basket in back so she can put the rocks and other things she finds along her journey in it. If she gets tired I just raise the front wheel off the ground and push. Like other's have noted, the front wheel and pedals still go around when you are pushing so you have to raise the front wheel when you are pushing. I highly recommend this tricycle.Kettler Kettrike Alana Tricycle with Pushbar
