This bike is nothing special - disappointing for a Kettler product. It is made in China and is not significantly different from kids bikes selling for half the price. Ours arrived with a defective rear wheel (out of round) which was replaced by Kettler. The brake assembly is not nearly as good as those I've seen on much less expensive bikes. The assembly only allows 2mm of clearance on either side of the wheel. This is not nearly enough. When the brake assembly moves, even slightly, it rubs the wheel.

This is a really nice bike for a little boy.

Cons:

Our son is on the tall side, but when he got this for his 5th birthday he couldn't quite reach the ground. So, instead of trying it out and having a good time with his new and, let's face it, expensive bike, he kept riding his trike for a while. But, he's grown a little bit and now he feels more comfortable with it.

The hand brake. Ok, shoot me if you like it, but I don't. I find it distracting for our son who is insistent on using it, even though he really should be focusing on the foot brake.

It is a bit heavy for a little kid to really manuever around. This is a con if he knocks it down or tries to drag it uphill (or if I have to walk with him to keep him from going too fast downhill).

Pros:

Really well made and sturdy.

I like that there are no characters on it. Yes, there's a spider, but no McQueen, Spiderman, etc. I hate having my child be a billboard.

It seems unisex. I have two boys and a girl, so this is a consideration for me.

It was easy to put together.

Overall we like the bike. I think it's great quality, should easily last through all three kids and beyond.

We purchased this bike for our 4 year old son after a lot of research. Our son loves it and was able to ride it instantly. It is not too heavy, perfect size and really well built. It is such a hit - he rides it every day when his dad gets home from work. Definitely worth the money!

I purchased two of these bikes for my twin sons' birthday. They just started riding without training wheels and I was looking for a biker that weighed a little less than their current bike. I spent quite a bit of time looking for an aluminum frame child's bike and thought I found one based upon Amazon product detail. "Sturdy MTB designed aluminum frame ..." Unfortunately when we opened the boxes, we found the bikes not aluminum but rather the same steel frame as those from Walmart for half the price. In fact the welding, fit and paint are not even as good as their old bikes. I am not in a position to take their bikes away on their birthday and tell them they are being returned, so I will chalk this up as a hard lesson learned about buying from Amazon.

There are a couple of positive points. The pedals and seat look to be stronger than typical. Well it is not much but I was trying to end the review happy.

I purchased this bike for my son's 5th birthday. It shipped fast and the box arrived in excellent condition. I am glad that there is no bike on the box, since my son saw it arriving and had no clue what was in it.
Assembly was fast and easy, however be aware that this bike NO LONGER COMES WITH THE BRAKES as described and shown in pictures. After contacting amazon I was offered a return or reduction of cost for missing parts, Kettler informed me that the bike has been re-designed and no longer offers these brakes, despite the manual in the box still showing them for installation. A simple warning note from the manufacturer in the box would have been great and saved me numerous phone calls to find out why the part was missing. I also feel that when a manufacturer redesigns a bike, the manual should be the first thing to be changed before shipping out what seems to be an incomplete product to the unknowing customer. Bad marketing and sales practices on Kettler's end. Not enough information for amazon customer reps either, as they should have been aware of the change when I called to inquire.

The bike itself is well built and not too heavy and I am sure will provide a few years of fun safe pedaling for my son.

I bought this for my 4 year old son as a first bike. I wanted to get a "solid" bike so he could pass it down to his little brother. This bike did not disappoint. It feels very well made, easy to assemble, easy to ride, and looks "so cool" as I am told. Great purchase - Kettler makes quality products, also have one of their tricycles. Highly recommend.

Just bought this bike for my six year old, and we love it. Well constructed, quality bike. This is a little more expensive than your Spiderman or Thomas Train type bikes, but well worth it. I highly recommend.

We bought this bike for our 5 year old. The front tire needed air right away.
The bike looks very good and is light.
We did not like that it came without front brakes and no kickstand.
The price is pretty high for a bike for that age class, but I am expecting it to last a long time. Kettler brand items are usually build to last.
We will see.
Overall we are a little disappointed with the bike, but we kept it. Our son actually really likes it.

Bought this bike for our 5 yr old son. Would have given it 5 stars if it was avail with a kickstand instead of training wheels. Had to pay another $19.99 to buy a kicksatnd as our son does not need training wheels. Other than that, bike is AWESOME deal. Very solidly put together. The plastic hand brake seems a little flimsy, but still above average for what we paid. Brakes don't rub, tires aren't bent out of the box, good solid bike. Very pleased with our purchase.

Update
Son's first ride lasted 5 min. before the chain broke. Not a big deal but a hassle.

I put the bike together last night. It was fairly straight forward. The front fork was a bit bent and I had to straighten it some to get the wheel on. I bought it for my son who will be five. The only part that seems realy cheap is the chain gaurd. I liked that the shipping weight was lower than most other bikes this size. I am always shocked how heavy these little bikes are.
