3.0 out of 5 stars Does what it should, pain to clean up, February 11, 2011

This does exactly what it advertises - lets you use your own coffee rather than a K-cup. For those that complained about leaks, it's all in how you put it together. You have to make sure there are no coffee grounds around the lip of the container before you put the lid on. If you have coffee grounds between the filter and the lip or between the filter and the lid, it will not seal properly and will leak. This leads to:
A. A mess
B. Gross, weak coffee
C. Grounds in the coffee

As long as you put it together properly and have the top free and clear of grounds there should be no problem. Avoid overfilling.

The one thing that I don't like is the cleanup hassle. You have to bang the filter cup in the trash can to try an knock out as many grounds as possible (coffee grounds are bad to put down the drain). Then rinse the thing. Now that your fingers are wet, you'll likely get new grounds stuck to them when you try to fill the thing for the next cup. It still beats paying the price for K-cups though.

5.0 out of 5 stars leaking caused by overfilling, December 6, 2010
This review is from: Keurig My K-Cup Reusable Coffee Filter 5048
I've used My K cup for a year because, fresh ground local roasted beans tastes batter than something than coffee sitting on the shelf.

I know that when I overfill the mesh cup, it will leak. I also use a dedicated toothbrush for cleaning the mesh cup and plastic lid.

For those Keurig users concerned about waste while using pods, or for those who still want to use their own coffee grounds, this is perfect.
