Ideal for both everyday use and for entertaining, this 1500-watt countertop appliance brews one fresh cup of gourmet coffee, tea, or hot cocoa at a time. Not only does the single-cup home-brewing system ensure the freshest results (no more bitter coffee sitting in a carafe, going more bitter and stale with each minute), but it also makes it possible to customize drinks, since one guest might prefer regular while another decaf or hot tea after dinner. The unit uses patented K-Cups, which offer over 200 varieties of pre-measured gourmet coffee, tea, and cocoa from a wide range of premium brands. It can also produce hot water for making hot cocoa from a packet or for use in cooking. When ready to brew, simply open the lid, insert a K-Cup, close the lid, and select a cup size from its one-touch control panel, which comes with a user-friendly blue backlit LCD display. Five brew-size options include a 3-1/4-ounce iced beverage, small 5-1/4-ounce cup, 7-1/4-ounce small mug, 9-1/4-ounce large mug, and an 11-1/4-ounce travel mug. After setting the digital clock, the unit can be programmed to turn on at a pre-determined time, which avoids having to wait the four minutes for it to heat up; it can also be set to turn off automatically from one to nine hours later for energy-saving convenience. The machine also allows for choosing the standard brew temperature from 187 degrees F to a hotter 192 degrees F. Other highlights include a blue-lit removable 60-ounce water reservoir (holds up to 10 cups), a descale indicator, a removable drip tray that allows for easy cleanup and the use of travel mugs, and dishwasher-safe parts (the K-cup holder and funnel). While it worked, it was a great machine. The coffee was great and so was the hot chocolate. Very convenient for the whole family. I even found K-cups at my local Stop and Shop grocery store for only 5.99 for a box of 12.

I received this for Christmas and it stopped working on New Year's day. Machine rumbles displaying "Not Ready" then shuts off. After keeping it powered off for about an hour it started working again, but then konked out, once again, mid brew. I wrote to customer service on Keurig's website and didn't get a reply after 5 days, so I called their 866 number.

After waiting on hold for approx. an hour for a technician, I was told that I was not allowed to wait any longer on hold and that they would call me back after 24 to 48 hours. The person I spoke to said that they have had an influx of calls with this problem since Christmas. Must be a bad batch that went out. I was also told that if they had replied by email, they would have told me to call, so don't waste your time with email.

I purchased the machine from Costco, but no longer have the box, so I don't know if I can return to them. If I am not able to get any satisfaction from Keurig, I will try going back to Costco. I will update this review with the final status of this problem.

1/10/10 update: I had to wait 3 days for a technician to call me back. The technician told me to use a paper clip and make sure the top and bottom spouts were clear and we ran through several hot water cycles on different cup settings.

I don't know if this 'fixed' the problem because at that point it had been working again. The tech. said that the hot cocoa cups could clog the spouts (although I do run a hot water cycle after each hot cocoa cup is 'brewed').

I call this Keurig my dream machine. I absolutely love it and you will too if you purchase one. One of the things I like about this machine is that once you find the coffee you love (and I like the Donut Shop, Emeril's and Paul Newman brands) it will always make the most perfect cup of coffee. You know how when you brew a pot of coffee sometimes it's perfect, sometimes it's too weak, and other times it's too strong -- well the Keurig gives you a perfect cup of coffee every single time. It's amazing.

My husband only drinks decaf coffee and I only drink "real" coffee. In the past we would waste a lot of coffee because he would make a pot and drink a cup or two and I would throw out the rest of his coffee to make my pot of coffee and generally I only drink one cup in the morning and one in the afternoon so all the extra coffee in my pot would get thrown away as well. Waste, waste, waste. But not anymore. I can have a cup of "real" coffee whenever I want and my husband can have his decaf whenever he wants.

I also want to say that there are so many different flavors of coffee and brands to choose from as well as teas (both caffinated and decaf). Hint..don't get the hot chocolate because it sucks. I also didn't care for the vanilla flavored coffee because it was too weak.

Another thing I love about this machine is that it makes the coffee so fast and it comes out hot. All of my other coffee makers served up lukewarm coffee. The Keurig brews the perfect coffee at the perfect temperature every time. Of course if you add half a cup of milk or cream it will cool your coffee off but that's to be expected.

My last reason for recommending this coffee maker is that you don't have to order the coffee online all of the time.

New Keurig B70 B77 with Free 60 My K CUP Coffee Maker I have been using the Keurig B70 B77 for about three weeks and up until recently, loved it. For the last week it has only been sporadic in properly dispensing the coffee. We use only bottled water in the machine, and perhaps drink 5-10 cups per day. I have tried unplugging the power as well as turning it off and on. Sometimes, it returns to functioning properly for a day or two, only to return to dispensing a few drips, regardless of the "cup size" on the indicator.

UPDATE:
A simple cleaning procedure using a paper-clip solves the problem. I received the information after calling customer service and the machine has consistently functioned as designed. I can recommend the Keurig without reservation -- it makes great coffee!

I too loved the unit... while it worked. Went through two units, both ended up being returned to Costco after repeatedly shutting off. I want to buy another Keurig since these things are great when they work, but am a little gun shy now.

I will wait and see if they get these straightened out. Don't even bother rolling the dice on this one... it's not a great deal if it doesn't work!!!

Much like the reviews I had seen here, I love this machine when I first got it. It was everything I had hoped for.

But I've owned it for around 6 months now and I'll be damned if I'm ever going to get another full cup of coffee out of it. I usually have to reset it and brew 3 times for the cup I used to get. I've descaled it a dozen times in a row. I've tried the toothpick trick. I've unplugged it, turned it over and shook it. Everything that you too will read about after the fact online when yours stops working. You know, just like the thousands of other unsatisfied customers who might have even gotten a replacement or two and found the same again.

It's too late for me friend, but you can save yourself the agony of this. It's pretty obvious to me now that the numerous shining reviews I had seen for this are due to the fact that they had just purchased the maker.

After a year or so since this review I happened to check out comments people had made to my post and found something shameful. I had contacted Keurig's support, they had agreed to send me out a new unit despite being outside of warranty, it's been working fairly well since that time... and where is my retracted review? Nowhere to be seen. Really lame on my part, and I'm sorry.
As I mentioned to that reviewer. I haven't had zero problems with the new units, but they've been far between, and nothing I needed to go calling the manufacture for since.
I moved my 1 star up to 4. 3 would have been for the unit but I felt an extra was deserved for the level of support they gave.
