Stopped working after 1 week, but great customer service,

While it worked, it was a great machine. The coffee was great and so was the hot chocolate. Very convenient for the whole family. I even found K-cups at my local Stop and Shop grocery store for only 5.99 for a box of 12.I received this for Christmas and it stopped working on New Year's day. Machine rumbles displaying "Not Ready" then shuts off. After keeping it powered off for about an hour it started working again, but then konked out, once again, mid brew. I wrote to customer service on Keurig's website and didn't get a reply after 5 days, so I called their 866 number. After waiting on hold for approx. an hour for a technician, I was told that I was not allowed to wait any longer on hold and that they would call me back after 24 to 48 hours. The person I spoke to said that they have had an influx of calls with this problem since Christmas. Must be a bad batch that went out. I was also told that if they had replied by email, they would have told me to call, so don't waste your time with email. I purchased the machine from Costco, but no longer have the box, so I don't know if I can return to them. If I am not able to get any satisfaction from Keurig, I will try going back to Costco. I will update this review with the final status of this problem. 1/10/10 update: I had to wait 3 days for a technician to call me back. The technician told me to use a paper clip and make sure the top and bottom spouts were clear and we ran through several hot water cycles on different cup settings. I don't know if this 'fixed' the problem because at that point it had been working again. The tech. said that the hot cocoa cups could clog the spouts (although I do run a hot water cycle after each hot cocoa cup is 'brewed'). She also said there may be a problem with the separate filter that allows me to use my own coffee as opposed to their K-Cups. After her call, I stopped using the hot cocoa and the separate filter and so far have not had any problems. 1/26/10 update- The machine started shutting off yet again. I contacted customer service and they promptly told me that they would send me a new machine. The new machine is working perfectly (so far) and the "motor" definitely sounds different. I am hopeful. I had to send them a part from the old machine within 30 days in order to not be charged for the new machine. When it works, this really is a great machine and so convenient. I hope I got a good one this time around. Update 11/2011 - The machine has been working really well, but stopped working in November, almost 2 years later. Out of warantee, but Keurig still replaced the machine at no cost to me :) Very happy with their customer service, and still loving my machine.

Same as the others... don't buy the Costco unit!!!,

I too loved the unit... while it worked. Went through two units, both ended up being returned to Costco after repeatedly shutting off. I want to buy another Keurig since these things are great when they work, but am a little gun shy now.I will wait and see if they get these straightened out. Don't even bother rolling the dice on this one... it's not a great deal if it doesn't work!!!

Hot, great coffee and so convenient...BUT,
This review is from: Keurig Single Serve Coffee and Tea Brewing System Select B77
I gave my husband the newest version of the Kuerig last year for Christmas that I bought from Costco. We immediately loved it and told everyone we knew to invest in the Keurig. It's super easy to operate, makes fast super hot great coffee using K-cups. Well that was until last evening. It broke down already just last night. I de-scaled it yesterday when the de-scale warning came on and when I got only a half cup of coffee. I could not even empty the vinegar out. It kept saying: BREWING, but nothing but a dribble or no water at would dispense. I tried to unplug the areas recommended in the manual with a paper clip to no avail. I called the company and a very nice customer service rep walked me through the paper clip process again. After doing that I pushed Brew and nothing came out. He said, "well...just throw it out...it has a defective part and we will send you a brand new one: no charge!" Baffled by this, I asked him just how long the new one will last using filtered water and de-scaling it on a regular basis. He answered, "at most...2 and 1/2 years!" So there you have it. They engineer them to only last at most this long. I have read on other sites where people got three new ones(free of charge) in four years. I just can't imagine constantly throwing a coffee machine in a landfill that often. So after the free new one dies, I am going to buy a really good and reliable French press that can not DIE. Or maybe Keurig will figure out a way to make them last 10 years, like the old Mr. Coffee makers. Everyone loves their Keurig at first, and then...the machine dies!

B77 when it works its great,

Definitely a Keurig design issue. I am on #3 and about to return this one too. The problem I have had with the machine is the constant turning off and unable to make 2 cups in a row. On this machine if I re-seat the water dispenser after each cup it will keep working. I just don't want to go through this exercise any more. I love the K-cup idea and the coffee is good. This machine is the pits.

Do not buy this machine,

We are also on our 3rd machine (of this model). The first two stopped brewing after each cup and this one makes a half cup at a time so we have to run it twice for each cup. I have had Keurig machines for years but all models seem to have one defect or another now. I bought different models as gifts and the recipients are having the same issues. I am heart broken because I love the coffee.

Our 5th Keurig in 4 years is now useless,

We've had five Keurigs since 2007. All failed for various reasons. Some just died, one arrived DOA, others began "short cupping". Our latest began short cupping in less than three months and the company is balking at replacing it although it is clearly in Warranty. Do not buy this product.

Like the other reviewers, I bought my B77 from Costco. It makes great coffee and we loved it. That is we loved it for the month it worked. Played phone tag with Keurig with their reps untill they finally decided to send us a new one. We'll see how the new one works. I would recommend the Keurig as a coffee maker, just don't buy the B77.

If I had read all the reviews online regarding the Keurig Single Serve Coffee System I probably would not have bought it. I am having trouble right from the beginning about having to turn it on and off again in order to get any water through, and then not always getting a full cup. Buyer beware! Of course, mine is a used demonstrator, maybe a new one would have worked differently.

Keurig has a design problem,
By
This review is from: Keurig Single Serve Coffee and Tea Brewing System Select B77
I received this in November as a gift and it lasted 3 days. Exchanged it for another one - that one lasted 1 month.Keurig changed the design, updated the fill pump. Problem is now the unit doesn't last very long before you get a 'no fill' problem and it shuts down. Mine will make 1 cup of coffee no problem every morning, but the 2nd cup won't work unless it cools down completely. I use RO water so this isn't a scaling problem. The new pump cannot overcome a check valve after the pump. Google "Keurig fill problems" and you'll come across a website with many other people with the same problem. The B70 appears to be updated too as people too have similar problems with it. Some people are on their 3rd unit from Keurig. Keurig needs to fix the design. You're warned! Dave |
