A perfect summer of '04 cd.,

This review is from: Kevin Lyttle (Audio CD)
"Turn me on on" will help us remember the summer that was 2004. I also liked "My Lady", "Screaming out my Name" and "Dance with me". It won't win any Grammys but if you just want to chill and have fun, Kevin Lyttle is your man.

Great First Album!!!,
This review is from: Kevin Lyttle (Audio CD)
I just love his huge hit, "Turn Me On". It is the best song on the CD, but the rest come close, too, because it's all good. His voice is smooth, and his songs make you want to get up and dance. He is from the Caribbean, and was such a hit that he made it on the charts all over the world. The style that he sings is called "Soca", a mix between Soul and Calypso. I would recommend it to anyone who likes dance songs, R&B, or reggae. Great job, Kevin Lyttle. A++++++++

I understand that a few people thought the lyrics of this album needed some work. They must not be very familiar with contemporay soca music. This is Party music. Not music for soul searching. In general party music tends to be focused on 3 things: wine(figuratively and literally),women and song.
Having said this, this album is an excellent example of caribbean party music. The melodies are catchy. The beat is infectious and makes you want to dance, groove , jam and wine. The songs flow well into each other and you can just play the cd for a good party without having to play dj. This is SOCA FETE music. Play this when you just want to sweat and have a ball. If you want lyrics or social commentary try CALYPSO, the more serious sister of soca.

I first heard "Turn Me On" back in December 2003 before coming back home to California after spending a wonderful 4 months as an exchange student at the University of the Virgin Islands, St. Croix. My resident advisor gave me a bunch of CD's to bring home, one of which included "Turn Me On," along with some Dancehall and Soca hits. I was instantly hooked!!
When I saw the video on MTV and heard it on the radio 6 months later, I was ecstatic!! This song has been out for quite awhile in the Caribbean. I'm glad it's finally getting airplay in the States. I want to thank Kevin Lyttle for introducing Soca to the States because it gave me great memories of my car trips around St. Croix, my roommate from Anguilla, and every wonderful aspect of my Virgin Islands trip. This whole CD is great. The standout tracks are: - Turn Me On, both original version and remix with Spragga Benz - Last Drop - Sign Your Name (Kevin's cover of Terence Trent D'arby's hit song) - Dance With Me (My FAVORITE song on the CD) - Drive Me Crazy (The background is similar to the "Buy Out Riddim," which was also featured on Sean Paul's "Like Glue" and T.O.K.'s "Money to Burn") - Sexy Ways (Hidden Track)

Great to see a son from he Caribbean doing so well - the islands have a wealth of talent just waiting to be unleashed.
In response to Tristan "meccax5" from Baldwin New York - Adrian Bailey the original producer of Turn Me On - Dance With Me and Call Me on Kevin's album will be launching an album early next month with a lot of artistes including Troots and Ice the album is called STING - we in the region are anxiously awaiting this album. It should be on sale right here on Amazon or on the studios website www.skystudios.net. Look out for it.

Kevin Lyttle's album is a very fun album of the Soca sound so very popular in the Caribbean. I was surprised all throughout. Most of the songs have the same identical rhythm, but there's a catchiness and infectiousness on the first 7 songs before he slows it down and picks it up. And yes, I remember Terence Trent D'Arby's Sign Your Name and Kevin made a nice remake of it. Sort of that continuation of the trend of remaking '80s hits on most 2004 albums. I don't agree with the mixed reviews in some magazines about it because this is a very entertaining albums.

I would like to put it out there that Kevin Lytttle is a Vincentian and I am very proud of what he has done. St.Vincent isn't as well know as some other caribbean islands and he has done alot about putting us, as well as soca music on the radar. What Kevin is singing is more considered Ragga Soca, for all of you that is interested, that is a slower version of Soca. I am glad that he put our music out there and I hope others follow. Big up Kevin, keep doing your thing

Ok, let me start off by saying this is an average reggage album. Kevin Lyttle could of use a little better material, since the music sounds a little of a bor. Kevin Lyttle has a pretty nice voice, though, he's not extreme on voice. Kevin Lyttle also made a somewhat-classic with "Turn Me On". Overall, Kevin Lyttle did a great job on his album, but next time, he may want to do a little better to get more than 3 stars. Like I said this album is average, mostly because everything is good, not bad, not great. Not a bad way to start off his career.
