I got the Kevin Van Dam Big Bass Challenge game for my husband for Christmas and he loves this game. However, the rod and reel that goes with the game is the biggest piece of crap I have ever seen. My husband played this game for not even two hours and the reel broke off the rod. I think this game has better graphics than the Bass Pro Shops version of the bass fishing game.

Congratulations! You've just purchased a real VanDam piece of JUNK!

I actually thought the reeling mechanism was "OK". And the menu graphics are decent. But if you want to play beyond that, good luck, sucka! The game graphics ARE better than Atari, I'll give it that, but the fish finder was designed by a small brain bass. Then just you try to cast out! I DOUBLE dare ya! Took me about 15 attempts and a dislocated shoulder! And the release point is such that if you were in a real boat, you'd be using your buddy Brad's eyeball that you just plucked out for bait on the next cast! And since when does a nice cast give ya like 9 reel cranks before your lure is back in the boat? I guarantee some of this game's programmers are now back to pulling out fish guts along the banks of the Yangtze River for a livin.

Bottom line is... DO NOT BUY!!! Get yourself a nice Monkey Quest or just a monkey wrench over your own head instead.

Whoever designed this game has never fished before (and possibly never designed a game before). The casting motion is horrible. The lure retrieving is too short to do anything. The graphics are a joke. I want my money back! I would rather destroy it than pawn it. This is in hopes not to pass on any further suffering caused by this poorly designed game. This is by far the worst game I have ever played! Black Bass of the early 90s is more enjoyable than Van Dam's Big Bass Challenge! My question is, why would he ever put his name on this product???

My Dad got this for Christmas so we tried to play it a bit this morning. its just a poorly made game all around, and my dad being a fisherman and a fan of 'KVD' was disappointed he would put his name on this trash.

the casting at first seems 'broken'. eventually we learned how to cast a bit, but then the problem is the reeling in. you get like 10 turns with the crank and the line is back in.

not much time to do anything. we couldnt figure out how to change lures either.

it just seems like this game was rushed, or made by someone who has never fished or made a easy to operate video game before in their life.
