Amazing in every aspect.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Key the Metal Idol - The Complete Collection (DVD)
I bought these DVDs separetly a couple of years ago and was astounded at what I saw. This anime is amazing. The animation is great and I love the character designs(there different from any anime I've seen before). The story is a very dark sci-fi drama about a robot girl named Key. I won't ruin any of it for you as it is very good. This is a very dark show though for having a pinocchio esque story. There is blood, gore, and some nudity so Id say it would be more appropiate for older teens. The characters are all really great and help to keep you enthralled in the story. Also the music fits well adding to the great atmosphere. Key kind of reminds of Lain, if you've seen and liked that show you will most definantly like this one. So if you like dark psycological sci-fi dramas, then don't even think about it buy it now(especially since its in this new really cheap box set) its worth every penny.

Unconventional, but great series,

Key is easily one of my favorite anime series. Although it follows the anime style, it is quite unconventional for an anime. After watching the first couple tapes of this series, I has no idea what genre it was; it obviously has sci-fi elements, some action scenes (thought not many) and it is full of dramatic elements of the dark, melancholy mood the Key does well. There are so many reasons to watch the series: incredible character design, quality animation and great cinematography, and most of all a plot that forces you to watch the series to its very end.

Classical andriod story from the 90s,

Mysterious and totally attracted in looking for the truth to the end. Comparing with the new type of android stories nowadays, this anime is just like a detective story in terms of android. This is not commonly seen. Surprising ending.

I bought this series after years of wanting to see it. The reviews on here were fairly good and the trailer looked interesting. Now I am a fan of all different types of anime. I own close to 300 box sets from all differrent eras and this is one that I would definetely tell people to pass on. Its not that the show is awful like BLACK HEAVEN or EXCEL SAGA. Key is( just kinda boring. Through the whole show i waited for something interesting to happen. The motives of all the characters were unclear. The one redeeming factor is the animation. The visuals are very nice for an anime of this period. However the animation is not good enough to keep you interested. I would only recommend renting this (if you can find it) or borrow from a friend.

Should be rated OT+, but still an above average story,
This review is from: Key the Metal Idol - The Complete Collection (DVD)
This series would NOT be a good idea for kids for various reasons. If you watch the Japanese version, listen closely to Key's voice, it is Junko Iwao, who was Tomoyo in Cardcaptor Sakura. It may be a bit on the psychological side, but there are a few happy moments and the music is simply grand. It is VERY dark, but the tone stays consistent, which helps with the flow. The title character even sings a BEAUTIFUL, but sad song from time to time.

Good, till the end.,
This review is from: Key the Metal Idol - The Complete Collection (DVD)
I liked episodes 1-13, but that last 2 which are 80 min a piece were very slow and boring. In episode 13 i have never set there watching 2 characters in an anime talk sooooo long, then there is a scene where an old man talks to himself for what feels like an hour. sooooo boring. I take a star off for the last 2 episodes. I paid only $17 for this so it was worth it.

Good graphics,

I like this anime, but not enough to buy it. I really like the graphics and the plot, but, like Witch Hunter robin, everthing's a bit dull. Every episode is very connected to each other. Also, there isn't much action (violence or other ^_~). It's worth renting, but not buying.
