5.0 out of 5 stars The best version of the Key of Solomon at the moment.
This edition is based on Mathers translation but information from other versions of the Key of Solomon is added which makes this version much more complete. The notes by the translator are also very valuable.

There are other versions of the Key of Solomon on the way that will probably be better then this one but at the moment I would recomend this version...

The Key Of Solomon the King is a grimoire, make no mistake, and a very specific one dealing with complex drawings of symbols and carving of Hebrew lettering. Perhaps the most important part of the book, really, is the pictures. In this copy of the book, many of the images are so poorly-photocopied that much of the text is illegible, and those that are not are still impossibly small. Many of the figures should be at least three times larger. Even more important, the first six figures, arguably the most important ones, are missing altogether.

The book has also not simply taken the text from an existing perfect PDF version (there are many out there), but instead has been written by scanning a physical copy and using text-recognition software to copy it out. As such, there are typographical errors that are very obvious (capital I's become the number 1, the occasional comma is a right bracket, etc.).

This is a copy of the best translation of the work, by Mathers, which takes reference from seven different manuscripts and compares them. Many of the footnotes are very useful in understanding the work, making it superior to any of the works by deLaurence. However, simply a little bit more TLC could have made this passable copy of the book great.

Excellent book! This book was much easier to read and to follow than the American Version. It also had additional information that was interesting to read. I highly recommend reading this book if you are into higher magic. For the first time, I understand what I am doing. It explains why it is necessary to keep track of the hour, planets, signs, angels, colors, herbs, and incense....to make it easier to conjure up spirits. And we all know how hard that can be! So we need all the help we can get! And this book gives you the help you are looking for!

I have always had an interest in the occult, and this was my first book that went into learning about it. However, its actually not as demonic as I was thinking it would be. I thought it would be like, black magic, cloaks, sacrificing virgins, and magical seals. It is very different from that. The process of summoning a demon is more like using your power and faith in god to summon a demon and command it. There are magical seals (I forgot what they were called, I'm in the process of moving and the book is already packed up so I can't find the actual name), as well as a lot of information on when to summon a demon, and planet alignment and such. I was looking for names of demons though and to learn about demons, but none of this was in the book, though I was not disappointed because of this. I found it very interesting though and very detailed, I was absolutely fascinated and excited. A must have for anyone with an interest in the occult! Do beware though, if you are planning to summon a demon, at least with how this book describes the process, you need to be very devout to god and if you are to place a curse, "karma" will balance things out and something will happen to you in return for the curse. You also need more than one person, supplies, be very dedicated to the ceremony, know when it is the right time to summon the demon and such. Its not like the movies...

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, though it demands effort, September 26, 2011

Not easy to read, interesting though.
I did not finish the book, the real occult is not my cup of tea.
For those who believe it is their cup ... this is it !

1.0 out of 5 stars Evil book. NOT for Christians,, July 15, 2010
This review is from: The Key of Solomon the King: Translated from Ancient Manuscripts in the British Museum (Forgotten Books) (Paperback)
I do not believe this book was written by king Solomon; but if it was, then it was while he was in a bewitched state of mind. Nonetheless, it is completly occult. Although it may have things in it that are REAL; they are not of God. This book is from the evil one. Warning!!! This book is spiritually dangerous. Stay away from it, fellow Christians. I sincerely hope this review helps someone.
