3.0 out of 5 stars Okay but could have been better
Not only is Zoe SuperMom, a Walmart version of Martha Stuart, and a female Bob Villa, she's also the perfect hairstylist, manicurist, etc, etc....she's an entire spa in one person. No one is that good at everything; she was rather unbelieveable. And she was so negative, distrusting, and defensive where Bradley was concerned--made her hard to like sometimes. Of all the...

5.0 out of 5 stars Key of Valor, March 8, 2008
This review is from: Key of Valor (Paperback)
The third installment in the key series is focused on Zoe McCourt and Bradley Vane's story. Zoe is a single mother, and she has had to struggle to raise her son. She was an unwed teenage mother who was abandoned by her first love James Marshall. As Zoe gets to know Bradley, she is horrified to see the similarities between he and James. It becomes obvious that to get close to the third key, Zoe must get over her trust issues, and rely on Bradley to help her. As in the past books, Kane becomes even more evil, and lives end up hanging in the balance.

A very good conclusion to the Key series. The male/female relationships were done well, but what outshined those, was the relationship that developed between the three women. Dana, Malory, and Zoe were all very different women with different life experiences, but instead of the differences being a hindrance, those differences strengthened their bond. You could feel the strong friendship between them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the Three, January 6, 2004
This review is from: Key of Valor (Paperback)
I wish I had not finished this book so very fast (but who could help it?) because I loved it half to death. The third in Roberts' new "Key" trilogy, "Key of Valor" tells the story of Zoe, the last of the three seemingly ordinary Pennsylvania women who must find a magic key as part of a Celtic quest.

As I mentioned in my reviews of the two earlier books, "Key of Light" and "Key of Knowledge," only Nora Roberts could make such an outlandish plot completely believeable. You've got your basic gods and goddesses--stuck in our world for over 3000 years. You've got a nasty evil sorcerer. You've got your magic spells, your swirling fogs, your not-so-coincidental coincidences. Sigh. And it all makes a perfect whole.

Zoe, a highly self-sufficient woman who had a son out of wedlock at the age of 16, has fought every day since to make a good life for her beloved child and for herself. And by taking on odd jobs, pinching pennies, and becoming a master at do-it-yourself projects, she has succeeded beyond her wildest dreams. Only Zoe cannot see the gift she has brought to others--she is too busy raising her son and fighting like a tigress against anyone who wants to help her. But she must have help if she is to find the final key to unlock the captive souls of three half-human, half-goddesses.

That would mean she needs a male in the picture, perhaps one Bradley Vane IV, man of privilege and family. And that is the very last thing she wants or needs, even though he attracts her like no other.

A perfect Nora plot, a perfect Nora ending. Read it and treat yourself to some mindless bliss.

5.0 out of 5 stars JOIN THE ULTIMATE QUEST FOR COURAGE, February 5, 2004
By
This review is from: Key of Valor (Paperback)
Well, #1 New York best-selling author Nora Roberts has done it again, with a tell of the ultimate quest for courage. This is the 3rd novel in the Key Trilogy, they revolve around three strangers who become involved in a mystery about three keys that each unlock a box holding the souls of three goddesses. In the Key of Valor, Zoe must go on her quest for the 3rd Key, while finding the courage to trust her heart with someone again. Zoe must come to face her desire for Brad, and the relationship and bond he has with her son Simon. Could her destiny be looking her square in the eyes? Meanwhile Kane the evil sorcerer who imprisoned the three goddesses, does everything in his power to stop her from her quest of finding the third and final key. This is a wonderful ending to Nora Roberts Key Trilogy, it's wonderful to see good win over evil.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable fast paced read, June 9, 2005
This review is from: Key of Valor (Paperback)
Key of Valor by Nora Roberts is the third book in the exciting key trilogy. This series of books tell the story of three women chosen to release three demi goddesses that share their likeness. These demei goddesses have been locked in a a coma like state, soul less, for the last three thousand, and the only thing that can free them are a set of three keys that can only be opened by three chosen ones, one key for each woman chosen and for one woman locked in a dreamless sleep.

I had read the first book in trilogy, Key of Light, and when I saw the third available for sale in the bargain bin for my local bookstore, I grabbed it immediately. This last book in the trilogy follows Zoe, the last of the three women to go on her quest for the key. She's the one that shares the face of the warrior of the three sisters that are locked in stasis. Since she is the last to go, she faces far more problems than the previous two women. She also has a harder road because of her own past and insecurities.

In the end, the quest is successful. Of course, there is a happy ending, but the road is long to get their. I've read two of three books in the trilogy, and I thoroughly enjoyed both of them, and I am considering picking up the second, Key of Knowledge, to read as well.

Nora Roberts is one of the most well known romance authors of our time. With millions of books sold and several titles in print, one can never really go wrong picking up one of her novels. The Key trilogy has the right amount of romance, love, inner turmoil, and outside action to keep someone thoroughly entertained and turning the pages.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fitting conclusion to a fun and exciting trilogy!, February 10, 2005
This review is from: Key of Valor (Paperback)
I own and have read all three books in the "Key" series. While I enjoyed all three very much, I have a special feeling for this third book as I am a mom too and can sympathize with Zoe and her concern for her son Simon. Bradley was a very strong and likable character and his interaction with Simon was great! I really loved Rowena and Pitte and would love to have known even more of their story. All in all a wonderful book and series in the "magic" vein once again by Nora Roberts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better and Better!, January 4, 2005
This review is from: Key of Valor (Paperback)
Three women whose souls are locked, waiting for release. Three women who can find the keys, if only they have the courage to search.

She was a teen mom from the wrong side of the tracks who took a lot of twists and turns in order to build a life for herself and her son. She's put her financial future on the line in order to build her dream business. She's put a year of her life on the line in order to save the sisters of glass. But can she put her heart on the line again and risk losing everything she's worked for?

Nora Roberts is an amazing author who just gets better and better. The final installation of the "Key" series really touched me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Trilogy, January 22, 2004
By
This review is from: Key of Valor (Paperback)
I really like this entire trilogy, it moved quick and kept me wondering what was going to happen next. They were great, breezy reads that didn't require a lot of indepth thought. I really liked all of the main characters and felt their personalities were developed well in the series -- it was as if I knew them. These are good books!

4.0 out of 5 stars The stunning conclusion to the "Key" trilogy, September 1, 2005
It's Zoe's turn to find her key. In the midst of her quest, Kane's attacks grow more desperate as he sees his own victory disappearing. Love grows between Zoe and Bradley, making her believe maybe she'll find what she never thought she'd have. dangers beckons ever more as she grows closer tot he end of her quest.

There was more about the legend of the Sisters at the end of this story, but not enough to give real fulfillment to the readers. It would have been nice to see more of what happens after the Sisters of Glass are freed and the land of the Gods rejoices.

Of all the guys, Bradley, who is perhaps the best of the three heroes, seemed to me to be the most trustworthy of a trustworthy trio of men. What a sweetheart! And he can do almost anything around the house, in addition to be rich, handsome, generous, and truly kind.

Simon, her son, is a terrific kid.....but again, nearly perfect. As much as you love 'em, kids aren't perfect. But he was often the glue that held the book and especially the romance together. And there were some very lovely scenes between Simon and Bradley.

The search for the key dragged in this one...it just didn't have the sense of urgency that the other two did, and it should have had more. The actual finding of the key was a letdown, even with the danger that immediately followed. The ending seemed to lack punch. A good series overall, but with some problems, though I'll admit to a few tears toward the end.
