Great book!,
This review is from: The Key to Zion (Mass Market Paperback)
I read this series when I was in the seventh or eight grade. I found this to be a REALLY good series. It has a little bit of everything to make it a truely captivating book. It has historical facts in it, along with some of the Jewish language, romance, and lots of adventure! While I was reading this series, my father and I would sit around and discuss the books at night. I definatly recommend this book if you want something really good to read!

This series as well as the previous, the Zion Covenant, are fantastic. You truely feel like part of the story, and most facts are accurate. I love reading about this time period in history, and the Thoene's do a fantastic job. Enjoy!

I would highly recommend that you purchase all five books in the series at the same time. I read the first one and was hooked. Each book ends as a cliff hanger for the next one. They are historically accurate, and you feel you are living through the struggle of the people of God to establish a homeland. As a non Jewish reader, I learned a great deal and would highly recommend this series.

The best book books I have ever read,

The Zion Covenant and Cronicle books are all very inspiring. It helped my faith more than any other Christian book I have ever read. I couldn't put any of the books down. These are the exact kind of books you want in your Church library. Bodie Thoene's books are the best books I have ever read. She is clearly my favorite author.

Five stars isn't enough!! I've never read anything better,
This review is from: The Key to Zion (Mass Market Paperback)
Never have I come across a better author. Bodie Theone (tay-nee) is truly amazing. These books are full of drama. It's like the characters became my friends. When I finished the series, It felt as though I lost some good friends. I really don't know if I could be as entertained, enlightened and fulfilled by reading anything else after reading this series. Originally I was checking the series out one at a time from the library. But when I realized I'd finally found something I couldn't put down, I figured I better buy the whole series. I have never bought books before, because I've never found anything worthy of being read more than once. I was just so compelled and I want to share her writings with all my friends and family. She's spectacular. So is anything written by her husband Brock, who helps her co-write everything. It's almost like watching a movie, because there are so many plots intertwined. I was shocked to read the epilogue in RETURN TO ZION. You'll have to find out for yourself. Just don't start reading in the middle of the series. If I could never read another authors works but one it would be the Theone's. - Megan Villa

Exciting and historically faithful conclusion to a sweeping saga,
By Nina M. Osier (Randolph, ME USA) - See all my reviews

As Israel's statehood approaches, the Jews in the Old City of Jerusalem move closer and closer to starvation. Transjordan's King Abdullah is willing to talk, and alone among the Arab leaders acknowledges Israel's right to exist; but he has no intention of allowing Jerusalem to become an international city. The ancient Jewish capital, where Jews and Arabs and Christians once lived side by side in peace and friendship, is now the focus of the coming conflict - not to mention of the present one, as the last British troops stationed there prepare to withdraw.
In this setting, Israelis like Moshe Sachar fight side by side with refugee Jews from all over the world. Especially, with European-born survivors of the recent Nazi Holocaust. One of those survivors is Moshe's wife, Rachel. In Italy, American newlyweds David and and Ellie Meyer try to stay one jump ahead of Arab agents determined to find those responsible for blowing up an arms shipment; and in Palestine, recent bride and still more recent widow Sarai Tafari survives gang rape only to be marked for honor killing by her family. These and other characters from the earlier Zion Chronicles books play out the rest of their stories in this one, as the saga reaches its climax and Israel becomes a reborn nation. It's an exciting story well told, with history and fiction woven together so seamlessly that I found it hard to remember where one ended so I could recognize where the other began. The best part, though, is how naturally its message of Christian faith flows through the tale. There's no preaching here. This story does not need it; and that is exactly why it works so well. --Reviewed by Nina M. Osier, author of 2005 science fiction EPPIE winner "Regs"

I thourghly enjoyed the whole series. As were the other 4 books, this one is well written and gives a good historical background to the 48 war between Israel and it's neighbors. It provides a Christian perspective without being preachy. The book really is about the story with the religious aspect in the background. I don't get emotional that often but these books "got me" several times. I highly reccommend the whole series.

Every time I read one of the Thoene's books I learn a little more about history. I always wonder which of the characters are fiction and which are real life.

Renew your faith through the Zion Chronicles,

This review is from: The Key to Zion (Zion Chronicles) (Paperback)
The Key to Zion is the culmination of everything that has happened to the Jewish people throughout the ages. I became very angry when I realized what it took for these brave characters in the book to stand firm in the love of God and their faith in Jesus as they fought to simply have a land in which to exist. I cannot believe that mankind can hate as we do. Despite all the trials and tribulations the love and power of God comes through. This book lifted my spirits and renewed my faith.
