After ordering and returning another product that was about the size of iphone (and didn't look that small in the specs) I ordered this product based on price and the positive comments on their customer service. The fact that it already had a 4.5 star rating was also a small part of the decision. I have a couple other Sharkk products and have always been happy. Now, the bluetooth keyboard

It arrived in 2 days just before I was on the road for 12 days for work. It hooked up instantly and flawlessly. The first time I went to use it, the up arrow key had come off. I've seen keys fall off over the years on just about every keyboard known to man, not a big deal. However, i noticed that the little mount had two little tabs and they had broken. I managed to make a rig with the broken parts and super glue, as I had no time to wait for replacement parts. I sent an email to Sharkk directly from the road, and they responded the next day asking me for clarification. I responded and asked for them to just send me the key and mounting tab, that the keyboard worked fine and the key was the only thing damaged. They said they'd take care of it, so I was content since I didn't have to send it back. The rep was very courteous and quite accommodating in our email communications. The next day I got an email confirming they had shipped the part. I didn't get home for over a week, however my wife had told me the package had arrived. I didn't ask anything about it, just assuming she saw the Sharkk logo on the replacement part box. I still used the one that I had rigged the key on, and it was still functional. I got home to find they didn't ship me the replacement key, they shipped me a whole new keyboard.

Here's a breakdown of the good, the bad and the ugly after using the Sharkk Keyboard for a while.

I have used it exclusively on the Apple iPad 3 and the iPad Air.

The Good:
Build quality. It's not flimsy. Is seems like it can take a bit of banging around in a bag, etc. The undercarriage is primarily metal (appears to be aluminum). The top is plastic as are the keys. The top - especially the bezel - is prone to easy scratches. It would have been nice for them to include a soft case of some sort to protect it from scratches. It would cost them pennies and they could add 50 cents to the price. Overall - except for scratches - it will likely standup well under normal wear and tear.

Backlighting. For a wireless keyboard I think the backlighting is excellent. You can adjust the brightness (off, low or high) as needed for low light or to conserve battery power. There are multiple colors to suit different tastes. It's a nice feature and the one that drove me to purchase it as I often type in low-light conditions.

Tactile Feedback: It's a small, thin keyboard so don't expect the kind of feedback you get on a full-size keyboard. Nevertheless the keys are well-spaced and typing it relatively easy. They take a bit of getting used to - as does any smaller keyboard - but they are better than most.

Battery Life: I haven't logged the battery life but overall I have been very pleased. I have not actually had it die on me yet and I have only charged it occasionally. It appears to charge rather quickly. I haven't taken a long trip yet with it so I may update this with more data as I use it on longer outings.

Distance: The Manual says ten meters. I can't see the screen ten meters away! If I am close enough to type it works.

I've been anticipating the release of Google's Nexus 7 2 with LTE for some time, and did a lot of research into which bluetooth keyboard could make the cut for my new toy. I stumbled across this SHARKK keyboard on Amazon. I was instantly attracted to it for several reasons:

1. It is backlit! ---- with multiple colors to cycle through
I am somewhat addicted to my Macbook's backlit capabilities, and a keyboard with illuminated keys was something I really wanted. Not only does the space around the keys light up, the graphic on the keys themselves are visible. You could type in complete darkness if you wanted to. There are also 2 different intensity settings and the colors look great, although some are more impressive at lighting up all the keys than others. (Blue isn't the most visible)

2. It's small but not microscopic.
Several years ago I made a commitment to do everything in the cloud....and I pretty much have...making me somewhat of a nomad when it comes to where I sit down to work. The keyboard is about the size of my old Mac bluetooth, but much lighter. The chiclet-style keys are also nice and familiar. I find the size just about right for me to sit an type for a while.

3. Reasonable price.
I was looking seriously at the LogicTech keyboards, but didn't like the fact I would be paying 1/3 of what my Nexus cost me just to have a keyboard. Purchased my SHARKK from Amazon for about $30. This also means I'm not as worried about it as I shove it in my bag.

Bonus I didn't expect:

Win / Android / Mac environment hotkeys
I like the fact the function keys on the keyboard pretty much work as indicated by their icons. The Android hotkeys (search, switch screens, ect) worked out of the box for me.
