If you are a gun advocate and have kids these are a must have. You can educate your kids to the fullest extent, but that's no guarantee that they won't still be inquisitive and handle your guns without adult supervision.
Now for you gun advocates that say "what good is your gun if it is locked?". I keep my gun beside my bed, with the key in it only at night. During the day, without fail, the key is with me. You ask what about the time in between? Well, that's where the title of this post comes in. The locks are named "the club" which is exactly what my home defense shotgun would become if I couldn't get it unlocked fast enough :-) BTW, these locks are only as good as the access to the keys. Choose the hiding location wisely. One thing that I'd like to mention is the vendor that fullfilled my order went above and beyond on filling my order and definitely earned repeat business from me.

Very handy to have 3 of these with the same key, and it's a "real" key. Also like the fact that they're brightly colored. My only complaint is although the key inserts and turns easily, the two halves can be difficult to separate once unlocked. Maybe they loosen up over time? Not sure. Buy them anyway though, they're good.

These locks are a life saver. I have 3 very curious kids and even though I've taught them gun safety, its good to have them on.
