I'm an Idiot,

Yes I said it, I'm an idiot. I saw this book on my recommended list, saw it was on sale for a pre-order price of 8.99 and went 'wow new Blue Bloods novel on sale sweet' and purchased click. Eagerly pumped and ready for the new Jack and Schuyler novel/novella I opened it and went... this doesn't look right. I then proceeded to be completely disappointed that it was just what it stated... the keys to the repository that is Blue Bloods. I was ticked and put the book down. Later I came back and opened it, this time expecting it to be a type of guide book. Here's what I found.
It has some pretty good detailed bios of the characters including Lawrence and Cordelia. It also... thank god... has some shorts in it from Jack and Schuyler's perspective along with other characters like Dylan and Kingsley. I then had to change my initial thought of the book. It is a good taste in between Blue Blood novels. It also goes in depth to some of the holes from the last couple books. It also gives a good list of all the secondary characters in the series, which is actually really helpful to refresh memories. So give it a chance, and remember, don't make my mistake not actually reading the caption or paying attention to the forums.

Great addition to the series.,
This review is from: Keys to the Repository (Hardcover)
I want to start this off by agreeing with Melissa's introduction, one of the best things about being so in love with a series, is standing by it and wanting to know everything about it. When i become so immmersed in character and novels i want to devour all i can about those books, i want to know everything i can about... everything. And thats why i found that i absolutely loved Keys. It isn't a sequel in the series, its considered a companion. It's sort of like extras on a DVD, there's deleted scenes and sneak peaks, and how its made (where she got the main idea and certain little ones). It was fantastic, it was an insider look into the series, including a part i loved the most, maps. Of the NYC and where everyone's houses were and etc. The sneak peaks to the new wolf pack series and the up coming sequel were also awesome. The best part was really learning all the side stuff about the "bad" guys.
I really recommend this to everyone who has read the Blue Bloods series, again its not a sequel its a companion, but its SO much FUN that its worth picking up, now when you read the series and all the upcoming sequels, you know all the ins and outs, you can feel like maybe you yourself could be a Blue Blood. <3 Neen

I always enjoy when an author writes a companion book to a series; and that's exactly what this book is. It helps to have a more in-depth knowledge about the characters you begin to fall in love with. So, to have a book give us even more of an in-sight to these characters lives is just fantastic. Not to mention, when you run across a moment in a book where things just haven't completely pieced together in your mind, to have a book to pick up from a conversation that was never completed or a situation that was vaguely explained just makes the world a difference. Thus, any unanswered questions or thoughts get resolved or continued. All in all, I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys this series and it's a great addition to the collection.

It's been months since I finished reading book 4, THE VAN ALEN LEGACY and I found it a useful tool to refresh myself on the series and all the characters. I was pleasantly surprised that de la Cruz also included a few new mini stories that further explained a meeting, conversation, or a relationship that the reader was not previously privy to. We also get a taste of her new promising spin-off series Wolf Pact.
KEYS TO THE REPOSITORY is a quick and easy read with lots of refresher information, clarifications, character insite and some new juicy bits to keep things interesting. I'm not usually one for companion books, but I'd say this is a helpful and worth while read for any fan of the Blue Bloods.

Loved It!
I though this would just be a quick guide to catching up on the series (something I needed since I was reading through the books backward and out of order), but actually has several new great stories and wonderful drawings, much enjoyed!!!!

There are some interesting tidbits that readers will enjoy,
By Teenreads.com (New York, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Keys to the Repository (Hardcover)
KEYS TO THE REPOSITORY will make a nice addition to the bookshelves of the many readers who have already finished the first four installments of the Blue Bloods series. Those who haven't read these but are on the lookout for something new should take note: this is a bestselling urban fantasy series that has become increasingly popular with teenagers for its continuous, warped drama and convoluted, ever-unpredictable love stories. The spirited cast of characters are often adorable or despicable, and many evolve by the conclusion of each book. The elite New York City backdrop provides some wonderful scenery with a stylish, modern flair. And a creative blend of divine themes and vampyre history dates all the way back to the fall of Lucifer himself, detailed exquisitely here in a compact little volume.
This addition comes mid-series, though it is not a part of the main storyline, serving as an appetizer to whet one's appetite before the plunge back into the main course. It offers inside information, some of which may surprise readers, particularly a few lesser-known details. The core content is simply a reflection of the central story but in greater detail and more organized form. It leaves off just where the fourth book ended and stresses important ideas that may determine the course of future volumes, or at least provide more basis for conjecture. Family histories of significant characters are included with vital statistics and a few interesting backstories. All of this has been neatly compiled in the actual records contained within the story, in classified Repository files protected by Renfield, faithful servant and director of the facility containing Blue Bloods records. The format of the book is open: readers may choose to simply read through it as they would a novel or more like a travel guide, shuffling through to peruse for interesting details and stories they might like to read. Either way, it has been written so you can do as you choose and sectioned for ease of reference. A simple introduction begins the book, with Melissa de la Cruz explaining her reasons for writing it and referring to prior reading experiences with companion books of her favorite series. After this, individual characters are outlined and summarized, each divided by family origin and several expounded on in short stories. The rise and fall of the Blue Bloods is given special attention, as is the fall of Lucifer and the origin of the Silver Bloods. The original story involving the settlement at Plymouth is detailed too, and Allegra's unions with Stephen Chase and Lucifer are revisited (albeit with some ambiguity). Particular attention is given to the stories surrounding Schuyler, Jack and Oliver, and these are stories that will likely interest readers the most, especially some more suggestive scenes, including the memorable kiss at the masquerade and love scenes further in the future, bringing the couple all the way to the present time and with Jack revisiting his feelings about being dumped by Schuyler. An equally notable side story is devoted to Dylan Ward, providing a backdrop for him that explains where his time was spent while he was missing and introducing an unknown love interest for him that makes him a more interesting character than he had been. For those who might have missed a book along the way, you'll want to finish any prior Blue Bloods installments before reading KEYS TO THE REPOSITORY. Though not providing much in the way of novelty in the main story, it does summarize experiences from previous volumes. And there are some interesting tidbits that readers will enjoy, particularly recapping where Schuyler, Jack and Oliver (and also Mimi) left off. Fans should be pleased with this as a companion, released just in time to give one last glimpse before moving on to the fifth volume in October. --- Reviewed by Melanie Smith

Literally. The book has a bit of everything. A peak into a new series, characters, places and some wonderfully tiny drawings.

It's Cleared Up A Lot of Questions,

This review is from: Keys to the Repository (Hardcover)
If you are a fan of the Blue Bloods series then Keys to the Repository is a must read. It explains details that, in my opinion, should have been explained in the books. For example, Keys explains how in the world Bliss can be Allegra's daughter. Also, you finally find out what happened in "Rome" and it's Kingsley Martin that tells the story. Most importantly, it explains what the 'wolfsbane' is and trust me it is not werewolves.
