Mind over Matter: If you don't mind, it doesn't matter,
By
This review is from: The Six Keys to Unlock and Empower Your Mind: Spot Liars & Cheats, Negotiate Any Deal to Your Advantage, Win at the Office, Influence Friends, & Much More (Paperback)
I had the privilege of seeing Marc Salem's show "Mind Games" and immediately pre-ordered the book. I was looking for him to reveal his secrets so I could amaze my friends. Well, guess what? As with virtually anything in this life, it is not an instant ability. It isn't a trick. And it's not magical, mystical, or extraterrestrial. It is, like most things, hard work, focus, concentration and practice, practice, practice.
Now, to be fair, Salem has a most engaging presentation, both in his book and, especially, in person. So the book is definitely a pleasant read. And I've no doubt that most people could apply his techniques with varying degrees of success, depending on how much time and effort they were willing to put into it. Bottom line is that I would definitely recommend this book for anyone who wishes to become more attuned to what's happening around them. And, by all means, if you have the opportunity to see the man in person... GO!!

He gives you the keys and all you have to do it unlock and empower your mind...,

I found this book to be a fun read and very insightful. I had the chance to see Marc Salem live at a local theater and couldn't wait for this book to come out. There are fun experiments in it to try on others as well as a few other "mind games" I think you'll enjoy.
Would take a lifetime, like Marc Salem has put into it, to be the expert body language reader and master of the mind he is. This book let's you get a look into this master's mind and who knows, with a little practice, maybe you can unlock and empower your mind too. You have to try the steps he suggests in order to make them work. Just like anything in life, if you don't try to do something you'll never succeed at it.

This is a great book for anyone and everyone. I found it to be very easy to read and follow. The things I've learned in this book have been very very helpful and you'd be surprised at how unaware you are of the world around you even if you are quite perceptive. Great read and highly recommended!

The seeming simplicity of some ideas belie their real depth. The book is almost zen-like in its ease to follow and the hidden perceptions it helps open.

The only reason I have this two stars is that some of the information while already published many times, is worth learning and knowing about.
Some information is wrong, especially about talking about reading people. If you want to learn about this from a real expert, read Telling Lies by Paul Ekman PhD. who is one of the leading experts on reading people's faces. In fact, Dr. Ekman himself says that trained professionals often miss lies because they happen in micro-seconds where we often can't see them even under video slow motion. A couple of examples: on page 81 the author tries to teach you how to spot a liar or read someone. He talks about sharp pauses and how they indicate the person is creating a lie. I know many exceptional people who are dynamic speakers and leaders who purposefully use the pause for effect in their story and many books and courses even teach this technique. Right below that the author talks about people who use excessive gesturing. There is no consideration taken for the person who is simply more physical in their movements or learning styles or emotional intelligence. Some of the best communicators I know use their hands quite a bit while talking or play with something while speaking to you. Hell I even do it myself sometimes and I know I am not lying or up to something while doing it. Sometimes it simply is what it is, nervous energy/active mind/creativity/learning style/anxiety.... While many of these points do have some merit they should not be taken as absolute truth. Someone who wears a particular color of clothes or has a particular manerism does not amke them automatically fall into his category of liar or other type of person. In fact, closer attention should be used for being aware of yourself in only looking for evidence that confirms your point or even a self fullfilling prophecy.

The contents of the book, are identical to the previous one of Prof. Salem, "Mind Games, a practical step-by-step guide...". I'm afraid the only difference is the cover page! I would like to interpret this as a sign that I should insist on reading the book again and again, till I get all the exercises in there done!

I enjoyed this book very much..it was right up my alley "sort to speak". I also liked the way Marc Salem explained in detailed how one can not only empower our minds, but to also look at things from a different perspective.I especially liked the chapter relating to "non verbal" communication. Well written and ensightful.

No disrespect to Marc Salem personally, but seriously, this book could have done without half the filler in it. Salem throws in a few constructive tidbits in this long-winded book, however breaks into a tangent about ESP, clairvoyance and other absurdities...
Talk about the P.T. Barnum of self-improvement books. If you are serious about obtaining tools for psychological advantage, buy any book by David Lieberman....he cuts to the chase and deals with reality.

Pretty good,
This review is from: The Six Keys to Unlock and Empower Your Mind: Spot Liars & Cheats, Negotiate Any Deal to Your Advantage, Win at the Office, Influence Friends, & Much More (Paperback)
I for some reason was expecting so much more from this book and wish the author would have cited more references than he did. The book isn't a total loss however. I found the chapter dealing with pendulums quite interesting and am still digger further into that subject. Basically to sum up the author talks about going into deep relaxation and then picturing the events you would like to bring about in your life. The biggest strength of this book is the chapter on how to spot people who are lying and reading people's body language.
