Treasure is my now one of my favorite authors. I was getting tired of urban novels always about a loud foul mouthed ignorant woman who only talks to men with money, ballers whatever. although this book is urban and gritty the two main characters keyshia and clyde are not like the typical urban characters where the man demands respect and is looking for the baddest chick...

Treasure is my now one of my favorite authors. I was getting tired of urban novels always about a loud foul mouthed ignorant woman who only talks to men with money, ballers whatever. although this book is urban and gritty the two main characters keyshia and clyde are not like the typical urban characters where the man demands respect and is looking for the baddest chick and is feared by the whole city or where the woman only buys designer clothes and mentions what there wearing and how much it cost several times during the book. when I first read treasure last book a street girl named desire I thought it was a women writing because it was of senstive nature. I have never known a man who can write from a male and woman prespective and be so belivable in it. reading this story made me sad on how cruel people can be to the the young and weak. Get this book because it teaches people who our hopeless that life does not have to be always about pain and suffering. Treasure knows how to write a urban book with a happy ending thats not nonsense and foolishness. Keyshia and Clyde were defintely two very likable characters. Get this book its funny, sad, inspiring and what I like most about this book which is very rare in urban books a HAPPY ENDING for everyone. Treasure is now one of my favorite authors. Treasure just keep doing you because you one hell of a writer.

Mentally, physically and emotionally abused, Keyshia Simmons is in desperate need of love and affection. At 12, she was forced to leave her home in South Carolina for NYC to live with her aunt. It's been five long years and Keyshia hasn't blended into the city at all, and despite living with family, she's all on her own! Clyde Barker is the youngest of three boys. His mother's best friend, Martha, took them in after tragedy rocked the Barker household. While he may not be the best dressed or making the greatest cash, Clyde is happy with his work. When life starts making demands, both Keyshia and Clyde make hasty decisions. Will they be able to handle the backlash?

KEYSHIA AND CLYDE written by Treasure E. Blue is an immense read. I immediately felt empathy for the teens who have endured so much pain. I absolutely loved the way the chemistry between these characters flowed, which made the story that much easier to get into. Yet, when we come to the core of the story, it's so outlandish that it's almost as if another author had taken over the story. For instance, the prosecutor and defense are usually opposing one another. Not in this novel, it was as if they were competing to see who could defend the defendant better. I didn't understand why a serial rapist was able to have custody of a child he bore with one of his victims. Also, and this is a biggie, I was really disturbed by the broken English that Treasure tried to pass off as the Geechee language. Now while I was extremely troubled by these things, I'm always rooting for the underdog. I enjoyed the way the two outcasts connected and I enjoyed the growth of the characters. A predictable, neat ending, but I can still find myself recommending KEYSHIA AND CLYDE to others.

3.5

5.0 out of 5 stars I Found My Everything....In You...., September 21, 2008
This review is from: Keyshia and Clyde: A Novel (Paperback)
Molested and left impregnated by a preacher, young Keyshia Simmons is whisked away from her Southern roots and stripped of her baby. Keyshia is confused, hurt, ashamed, and left to be further abused by a mean, spiteful aunt in the big city. Clyde Barker is the youngest brother of three who's a quiet, introverted young man that works at Johnny's Ice House for minimum wages but isn't all what he appears. Their father shot their mother, leaving her mentally incapacitated in a hospital while he serves his sentence in prison for the heinous crime and the boys are left in the care of their mother's best friend Martha.

Horrid childhoods as well as dangerous and deadly lifestyles are where Keyshia and Clyde meet at a crossroads and these two discover an enchanting, yet genuine love that will surpass all obstacles, whether they be tangible and intangible. Pledging their love to each other, they embark on a perilous journey on the dark side with danger nipping on their heels.

Treasure E. Blue has created a perfectly blended hood love story that is suspenseful yet memorable. Keyshia and Clyde is a phenomenal read that marks new territory with this unforgettable dynamic couple. This story will have people talking for years to come because their story and allegiance to each other is so vibrant and inspirational! Definitely an urban lit classic that I will deem the 'best book of 2008.' I simply fell in love with Keyshia and Clyde because for the first time, Treasure gives his fans some light in a dark and dreary land!! The author pulls your heartstrings in so many directions that you don't know whether to celebrate or mourn. But in the end...Life is good! Out of the darkness and into the marvelous light! Major props to you, Treasure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keyshia and Clyde, January 22, 2012
This review is from: Keyshia and Clyde: A Novel (Paperback)
This is my first book by Treasure E. Blue. I have to say I am very impressed with the storyline and the quality writing. I am going to be reading his other books very soon. Keyshia was an amazing character, with amazing strength, and did whatever she had to do to survive. She made it through sexual abuse by a pastor, pregnancy, physical and mental abuse by an aunt, as well as drug addiction all within her early teenage years. Clyde is also a great character. I loved the way he treated Keyshia. He was also put through crazy circumstances as a child and teenager and tried to live a good, honest life despite that. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys urban books, or if you like a good drama.

I read this book in one day & I was more then amazed! I loved Harlem Girl Lost & A Street Girl Named Desire and this book...Keyshia & Clyde is now a favorite! Keyshia is a diamond in the ruff & Clyde found her & shined her up & put her on the highest mantle possible! This book proves that true love never dies no matter what the circumstances are! Its all about how bad you want it & how hard you fight for it! I will admit Clyde's brother Sonny was getting on my nerves & Keyshia's Aunt Ninny is something else! But I liked how the situations that affected them the most in their individual past (before they even met each other)they faced them & conquered them together! Great Read! I definitely suggest any reader thats interested in this book to go pick it up!!

Wow I was blew away by this book. It hits home for some people based on the realistic things that happened in the book. A lot of people can relate to this book in more ways than one. I really wanted this book to be a sequel even though I prefer One long good book. I wanted more from the character's. Maybe we can get a deeper look at Clyde's brothers.
