W.A.S.P. has been known for a particular brand of heavy metal for years now. Fans and critics alike have come to know Blackie and the boys for providing this brand of metal for years. Heavy riffs, the occasional instrumental, and the extreme doses of heavy choruses with raw emotion!

Enter k.F.D., a new brand with an entirely new direction! A raw and heavy, but industrial sound (with the likes of Nine Inch Nails.) Many fans who have complained about the staleness and predictability of W.A.S.P. begged for a change; then upon the release of K.F.D. they complain that it doesn't sound like W.A.S.P. With some people, there is no pleasing them. K.F.D. is dark, agressive, and full of unrelenting emotion that was harbored deep inside the minds and hearts of Blackie and the boys (particularly Chris Holmes.) Here is my track by track review of one of the hardest, deepest, and most unrelenting W.A.S.P. albums yet.

1. K.F.D. - The title track to open the album. Right away the listener will notice a different sound. The heavy industrial sounds in the background might throw you for a loop at first. Blackie's vocals may also seem a bit drowned out at first as well, no worries! This is a perfect way to begin an album and to set the tone for what's to come. A hard-hitting song that just makes you pump your fist! 5/5

2. Take The Addiction - Fresh of the heels, this song follows with another dose of hard-hitting anger. A chorus that will have you screaming along, and just pure guitar work by Mr. Holmes himself! Another awesome song that shouldn't be overlooked. 5/5

3. My Tortured Eyes - This song seems to be about Blackie's break-up with his girlfriend at the time. Did they have a bad split? I don't know, but what I do know is that this song rocks! Not as downright dark and torturous as the first two songs, but awesome nonetheless. Might seem a bit crammed together with so much anger and angst all wrapped up into one song, but believe me its worth it! 4.5/5

4. Kill A Head - I didn't really care for this song the first few times I listened to it; after awhile however, it really grew on me. Dark song that has a rocking chorus! Like i said it may take awhile to like but it does fit! xcellent guitar work and drum solo's as well! 4/5

5. Kill Your Pretty Face - This is my personal favorite from this album! The majority of the song has Blackie singing pretty softly, almost inaudibly. Then, the chorus kicks in, and that's the best part! Along with the guitar work, Blackie and the boys pour every emotion they have into this song! I have never heard Blackie stretch his voice to the lengths it goes on this track; just pure brilliance! 5/5

6. Fetus - Not even a song, just a filler industrial track to lead into the next track. Still fits and flows nicely with the whole theme of the album, very dark and kind of creepy! 3.5/5

7. Little Death - Goes hand in hand with the previous track. I like this song as it remains dark and flows nicely together with the rest of the album. Awesome guitar work with heavy solo's throughout. may take a couple listens to really get into, but its not a track to underestimate. 4/5

8. U - Another awesome track that may be overlooked by many fans of the album. Awesome instrumental work on this one that shows the brilliance and seemless intergration of the band. Awesome track! 4.5/5

9. Wicked Love - This track also took me a couple listens to appreciate fully, but it took me by surprise. Again, the raw and genuine emotion put into these tracks is what makes it! Flows nicely and doesn't drag the album down at all. 4/5

10. The Horror - This is a pretty good song to end the album. From start to finish this album was dark, heavy, and filled with almost pure evil! A new side of the band is complete with the finale of the album and leaves you hoping for more in the future. 4.5/5

I gave this album five stars because I feel it truly deserves five stars. Blackie and the band decided to take a completely different approach on this album with the risk of upsetting and even losing some die-hard fans. Every band needs that album where they try something completely different and out of the ordinary; if it works grest, if not at least they tried. I appreciate this album for that alone, and it also shows how original the band can be. A truly awesome album that all fans of W.A.S.P. must own!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best W.A.S.P. albums, May 21, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Kfd (Kill Fuck Die) (Audio CD)
I know some people dislike the engineered sound of this album, but I like it. What is most important though, is that this album contains some of the best songs Blackie has ever written, period. Actually, this is the only W.A.S.P. album that I think has no filler songs at all. Every track is right where it belongs and I never skip any tracks but listen to the album from the beginning though to the end. But as Blackie has said, this is so angry and dark music that you'll only understand it if you have enough scorned experiences in your life. This is one dark piece of music! Mostly it is about being extremely mad and angry about having been dumped, cheated on, and so on. If you just found out your spouse has been cheating on you, don't listen to this album or it may send you over the edge! ;o)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Album, October 10, 2005

This review is from: Kfd (Kill Fuck Die) (Audio CD)
Ive been a fan of W.A.S.P. for many years now and although their popularity is not what it used to be they continue to kick ass despite the many lineup changes. Blackie has always been a great vocalist and Chris Holmes a great player and things are the same on this album.

Actualy things are very diferent too because the sound on this album is very diferent from other releases, but in my opinion thats a good thing. So much of a good thing that this is my favorate W.A.S.P. album The lyrics are very dark and very good especialy in songs like Little Death, My Tortured Eyes and Kill Your Pretty Face which are probably the best songs on the album too.

Not all old school W.A.S.P. liked this when it was released because they might not have been expecting such a diferent sound but I think it just makes this album stand out more and keeps things fresh.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rock n' Roll Aggression at its Best!!!, January 30, 2002

This review is from: Kfd (Kill Fuck Die) (Audio CD)
This is one angry album. It sounds like nothing else WASP has released to date, and it is amazing. They take their music into another direction but stay true to their roots at the same time. It may take you a while to actually like it. You must be open minded. And once you are, you will see that this is a WASP album that stands on its own and lives up to its title...

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, dark, a classic often overlooked., March 16, 2010

Brilliant, dark, a classic often overlooked.

When I first heard of this album, I was ignorant like many of the general W.A.S.P. fan base. However, I decided to give it a shot after hearing the title track and deciding that I wanted to own W.A.S.P.'s entire discography, sadly that means Helldorado (but that's another review). I also heard that this was Chris Holmes return to W.A.S.P. . At first I thought, "Who the hell cares. He's a useless alcoholic and W.A.S.P. only got better after he left".....Thankfully, I was I wrong. Having Chris back in the saddle must've given Blackie an adrenaline rush from hell. He went from being what seemed clinically depressed on "Still Not Black Enough", to his crazy old self, but matured in a sense. A welcome return to form.
Anyway, back to the album. Instead of going into the album with biased ears, I decided to go in expecting any and everything. I'm glad I did. What I heard was a dark, disturbing masterpiece of what I can only compare to a violent serial killing and/or rape. If anyone says that the lyrics come off cheesy or this or that, don't listen to em'. Listen to this thing in the dark, with your blinds closed and prepare to face your own demons.

TRACK BY TRACK REVIEW:
1. Kill.F**k.Die. - 5/5
Great way to start off the album. Fast, pounding, powerful all around. A great live track, I'm sure.

2. Take the Addiction - 4.95/5
This one took a few listens to fully appreciate. At first I was a bit bored with it, but now the raw emotion pouring out of it is perfect!

3. My Tortured Eyes-5/5
A sick and twisted ballad. The keyboard trickle in the middle of it is great and adds to the atmosphere of hopelessness presented in the album.

4. Killahead-5/5
Holy crap. This is like having a brick thrown at your ears. Great, fast, angry, crazy.

5. Kill Your Pretty Face-5/5
This one took a few listens to fully appreciate. But it is great. I hear Blackie raped a nun to this tune during the KFD tour. Feels like I'm in a serial killer's head.

6. Fetus-4/5
Everyone thinks of this as filler. I have to disagree. I think it helps in introducing Little Death as its own entity. Sort of like the "calm" before the "storm". From the second it starts, it gets progressively darker and dangerous, leading up to...

7. Little Death-7/5
My favorite track of the entire album. Great guitar work and Stet Howland is a freakin' monster on the drums. You can feel the anger in Blackie's voice here. I can't even come up with words to describe it properly. Just listen to it.

8. U-4/5
Who pissed you off Blackie? This song takes a juvenile phrase and turns it into a lunatic's reason for murder. I heard he wrote it after his ex-girlfriend broke up with him and became a lesbian (not sure if that's true though).

9. Wicked Love-8/5
Holy hell! This is another great one. It takes the animal instinct in us all and presents it in an almost "Salo" like fashion. Pure lust and nothing more. Great guitar solos from Mr. Holmes.

10. The Horror-20/5
The finale to a psychotic masterpiece of an album. Dripping with anger and a desire to kill. I read that Blackie was trying to make a song about the cave in the finale of Apocalypse Now. I think he succeeded. It takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotion leading up to the explosive finale.

All in all, this album is a masterpiece that is often overlooked by biased W.A.S.P. fans that can't seem to let evolution take its course. Blackie once said that he wants each W.A.S.P. album to represent where the band (often times, himself) is at that time. After The Crimson Idol, he was drained and as crazy as "a s*** house rat" (his words, not mine) and Still Not Black Enough was a fine picture of that.
K.F.D. seems to be the progressive step, and if you're brave enough and/or open-minded you should take it too.

5.0 out of 5 stars KILL F**K DIE, December 11, 2009
This review is from: Kfd (Kill Fuck Die) (Audio CD)
At the time of the release of K.F.D. Blackie Lawless described it as the most intense album W.A.S.P had ever made, and never was a more true word spoken. Right from the word go K.F.D. is bristling with menace and some really quite brutal songs. Certainly K.F.D. is nothing like W.A.S.P had made before or have made since. I appreciate that the extremely dark nature of this album is not too everybodys taste and if your a fan of the more rock n roll style W.A.S.P then you would probably be better off getting hold of their next album Helldorado. If however you go into K.F.D. with an open mind than I think you'll be suprised at how good this album is.

4.0 out of 5 stars KFD - The Only Hope for W.A.S.P. After the Eighties, November 27, 2001
This review is from: Kfd (Kill Fuck Die) (Audio CD)
Being a dedicated Wasp fan, I can safely say that their early albums (such as their self-titled debut, The Last Command, and Headless Children) are truly heavy metal classics. However, the bands style of playing and glam theatrics do seem unarguably dated today, where the music marketplace is willing to promote any kind of metal music as long as it is big hair-less.
This being said, KFD represents the band's attempt to break free of their tradtional high-volume and theatrical approach in favor of a newer, more updated sound. The opening track, for example, is a cascade of Blackie's ressonating vocals and industrial guitar and synth tones. The rest of the album continues on like this, with other higlights like "Killahead", "Kill Your Pretty Face", and "Wicked Love". On the whole, Blackie and the boys sound much grimier and more dangerous than ever before, but with the creative atmospherics to make them more effective. This may be a mixed blessing for some long-time fans, however, since this album favors mean-spirited and scary imagery over just normal rock and roll themes (sex, drugs, etc.). But if think you'd like the child band of Wasp and Nine Inch Nails, this may be just for you. I hope they continue on the path of discovery toward newer, more timely music in the future. Long live Wasp!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Industrial Metal-Killer of a CD, August 29, 2007
This review is from: Kfd (Kill Fuck Die) (Audio CD)
This entire cd (of which there are at least two compilations, about which I'll say something later) sounds like it was engineered using over-amped power tools wielded for very sadistic purposes. I first came to this after _The Last Command_ days. When I first heard _KFD_, I thought it was the most horribly, pneumatically-crafted, painful stuff I had ever heard and couldn't believe how badly the band had devolved. Now, however, I think _KFD_ is Blackie Lawless's most daring conception and W.A.S.P.'s most fully realized cd. Like he says in "Killahead," Blackie's out to prove that he's "the darkest motherf---r on the planet," and by the time he's grandstanding by asking, "Who's the one?", you're agreeing, that, yeah, it's him. Because this is nothing less than _Apocalypse Now_ on cd. The two first songs are absolute rockers, and the third is a dental-drill screech of a ballad. You don't get harder than a first song that says all you get from life is to "Kill F--k Die" and means it. "Take the Addiction" is Blackie's monomaniacal rage at his addiction being tougher than yours is; it is anger at whimps like you who can't face injected torture. And then he breaks down and admits that his soul is tortured to extremes. Then it's back into songs of all things "orgasamatic" and lethal and wicked and murderous. The cd is rounded out with "The Horror," a controlled, nearly soothing scare-fest of a postmodern pagan ritual of murder in which the sacrifice is begging you to "F-- me, kill me, drink my blood." Truly scary stuff. THE DIFFERENT COMPILATIONS: If you like _KFD_ as much as I do, I wouldn't want to miss out on the Japanese version that includes a hard-rocking song called "Tokyo's On Fire" that has one of the best guitar riffs (immediately after the chorus) that Chris Holmes has ever inspired and surprised W.A.S.P. fans with. But you'll have to buy the American edition, too, because the Japanese version takes out "Fetus" and "Little Death" (two excellent songs: "Fetus" for a biologically excruciating addition to the aura of the album, and "LD" just for absolute awesomeness) to add "Tokyo's On Fire." (It also says it has a bonus, "Wicked Love," but it's just the same as what's on the American addition. LAST NOTE: Don't believe for a minute that "Kill Your Pretty Face" and "U" (with the chorus "you f---ing suck") isn't Chris Holmes's and Blackie's loving words for Lita Ford. Somehow I think they are all too much for her.

4.0 out of 5 stars Shock Rock Kings, May 6, 2010
This review is from: Kfd (Kill Fuck Die) (Audio CD)
Outside of Marilyn Manson, Judas Priest and Ozzy Osbourne, W.A.S.P. stands as one of the most controversial bands of the modern and post modern era. Debuting with the notorious Animal single and gold albums in the 80, tried to go mainstream as legitimate musicians. This CD was the first attempt to return to shock rock form, though fused with elements of industrial. The ensuing tour was just as controversial as the Antichrist Superstar tour: THE tour THEY didn't want YOU to see! Overall the music isn't bad and key tracks are the title track' Killahead, The Horror and U.
