Editorial Reviews

A long overdue re-press for this 1975 debut album, which had been deleted since 1978 prior to the Lemon reissue! In simple terms, this album features several legendary rock musicians! Formed by Mike Bloomfield (the late lead guitarist of the Butterfield Blues Band, Bob Dylan's original guitar player and one time member of Electric Flag) and includes Carmine Appice (whose drumming credits include Vanilla Fudge, Jeff Beck, Rod Stewart and Black Sabbath) and Rick Grech, bassist of both Blind Faith and Ginger Bakers Air Force. It has also been rumored for many years that the album contains input from Steve Winwood although he is unaccredited. Also featured on this record is Al Kooper (of Bob Dylan fame).

Been waiting a long time for this one. If you like rock, blues, and all the good stuff in between, you will never regret buying this album. It's Gonna Be a Hard Night is worth the price of admission. But then there are all the other great ones: Let Me Love You, Sail on Sailor, Workin' for the Children... and I could go on. This is one of the finest albums ever made, imo. You'll kick yourself if you don't get it.

ALthough this didn't receive good reviews when first released it has become a much sought after gem. A little to commercial for bluesman Mike Bloomfield he reportedly didn't like it either. But I'm telling you this is a must have if you were into The Electric Flag, Super Session or Blood Sweat and Tears. Their version of Sail On Sailor is just killer, other high points are Let Me Love You, I'ts Gonna Be A Hard Night, I've Got A Felling, Baby Should I Stay Or Go. Oh by the way ommited from the above Editorial Review Ray Kennedy of the Beach Boys is also in the band.

KGB stood for Ray Kennedy on vocals, Barry Goldberg on keyboards and Mike Bloomfield on guitar. Carmine Appice played drums.

Because of their collective credits of the band members with other rock and blues groups, these qualified at the time as another rock supergroup.

Ray Kennedy's vocals on "Sail On Sailor", the Beach Boys' song, were tops. Find out more about Kennedy at his web page, where he uses the name Ray Louis Kennedy.

This album was one my husband's and my favorites when we were dating (28 years married). We still have the LP but no stereo to play it on. Now we have the CD! I have looked forever trying to find this CD. Thanks so much for bringing back so many memories.

Being a fan of Michael Bloomfield, and thinking I had what I wanted of his recordings, I picked this cd up after finding a vinyl copy at a garage sale. It's really a cool lp...I place it somewhere between touches of the electric flag and even delaney and bonnie. I purchased the second KGB lp as well and it doesn't hold up as well as their s/t lp. I highly recommend this cd if you are a fan of bloomfield or any of the early blues bands like paul butterfield or the electric flag.
