Okay product... not great...
on January 27, 2014
I'm a union boilermaker and spend a lot of time working at powerplants, with all the crawling around we have to do in some of the tighter places I've had the leather on some new boots wear all the way through to expose the steel toes in less than 3 month. I used this product for about 5 years and was fairly happy with how it helps, for me I had to reapply the product about every 6 months which considering I'd wear through the leather on new boots twice that fast I think this product is pretty decent. This product would work better for certain professions better that others. For a factory worker this stuff would be great and for a mechanic it would still be pretty decent but even for a mechanic crawling under vehicles it'll probably still wear eventually. For 99% of people it shouldn't wear off as fast as it does for me but you may still want to reapply every 9-12 months. I used this stuff for about 5 years and it is better than nothing. This stuff is real easy to apply. I tried another product called "tuff toe" a few years ago and use only that now. Tuff toe is an epoxy mix that to me seems indestructible. I had on a pair of boots and after 2 years it still looked the same thickness and the stitching on those boots blew out and I took them to a boot place and they re-stitched them and a year and a half later the stitching blew out again and I retired those boots and the "tuff toe" I applied still looked great, scuffed up but still the same thickness as when applied. I threw tuff toe on my next pair and 1 year later they still look great. Tuff toe is a little harder to apply but at least with that stuff you only have to do it once and it dries in the same amount of time. If you spend most you're time on your feet "kg's boot guard" should be okay but if you have to do any crawling or if you want a product that you only have to mess with a one time I'd go with tuff toe instead.
