5.0 out of 5 stars The Rai Groove
Steve Hillage has done a wonderful job over the years with Carte de Sejour and Rachid Taha. Here he has outdone himself in a simply magnificent album he produced and arranged with 3 of the greatest talents of Rai. Of course this is not a pure Rai album, rather a Funky Rai, or an Arab Groove compilation, that is pure magic. the right mix for between Arab Andalusian...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Rai Groove, July 9, 1999

Steve Hillage has done a wonderful job over the years with Carte de Sejour and Rachid Taha. Here he has outdone himself in a simply magnificent album he produced and arranged with 3 of the greatest talents of Rai. Of course this is not a pure Rai album, rather a Funky Rai, or an Arab Groove compilation, that is pure magic. the right mix for between Arab Andalusian music and Western Pop/Funk/Soul, aimed at the western ear. You can find hit songs like Khaled's "Aicha", "Didi", "Chebba" and Taha's "Menfi", "Ida", "Ya Rayah", from his cd "Diwan", with the soul attitude of Faudel in "Tellement N'brick", and more. all these make an almost perfect album, missing only Taha's "El H'Mame".

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD - try to find the two disk version however, April 14, 2002

As others have said, this is a great CD. However, in the States they seem to sell the truncated one cd version. There is a two CD version available though it is getting increasingly hard to find...You're missing alot with the single cd, the next CD:(list from cddb) Taha - Khaled - Faudel / 1, 2, 3 Soleils (Disc 2)has Madeeh/Wahrane Wahrane/Les Ailes/La Camel/Abdel Kader/Bent Sahra/Aicha/Tellement N'Brick/Didi/Ya Rayah/ plus two bonus studio recordings: Daiman (the Arabic version)and Comme d'Habitude (the French version - tune of "My Way").

5.0 out of 5 stars This music takes me back..., April 7, 2004
This review is from: Khaled Taha Faudel (Audio CD)
To Marrakech. I was wandering the main souk there in Marrakech when I heard this tape playing. I stopped and fumbled through Arabic/French to ask the vendor who it was, and he pulled out the tape case. I bought it on the spot.

Even now, when I listen to it, it takes me all the way to Morocco. My favorites are Omri and Aicha. Both stir emotion and memory for me. If you're not familiar with Rai, this is one of the best CDs to get to do so. In spite of the live recording (which sometimes loses some of the clarity, etc.,), this is awesome! Enjoy!

This is probably the best of the Rai compilations grouping the three "Rai giants." I recommend buying this record... it kicks...

5.0 out of 5 stars Impulse buy..., April 30, 2001
This review is from: Khaled Taha Faudel (Audio CD)
I was wandering, lost in the markets of Marrakesh, and passed by a stall selling tapes and CDs. From the tinny speakers came the sounds of a really interesting song (ayisha)...I had to have it, so I asked the guy behind the table in my passable French, who it was that was singing. He handed me the tape, I handed over 30 dirham or so, and was on my way...I've since worn it out, and just ordered the CD to replace it. Absolutely awesome!
