5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific story with a lot of history, June 8, 2000
By
This review is from: Khan: A romantic historical novel based on the early life of Ghenghis Khan (Books that touch the heart) (Paperback)
When someone gave me a copy of Ghenghis Khan, I was sure it would be awful. Who wants to learn about this powerful man? I read it out of curiousity and have to admit it was gripping. Ghenghis Khan himself was of Eur-Asian descent with red hair. He amassed a enormous military machine to conquer the Asian world. The book is filled with glorious historical detail that seems to be very well reserached including the land descriptions. I was impressed. In addition, the author, Florence Prusmack, slowly reveals a fascinating personality in Khan. He was a military genius, charismatic leader, wonderful husband and lover, playful and strong father besides being a very moral man. I truly was fascinated with the insights into this man. I recommend the book as a solid, gripping read for anyone who loves interesting characters, and good historical detail.

4.0 out of 5 stars A teen's review..., November 29, 2009
This review is from: Khan: A romantic historical novel based on the early life of Ghenghis Khan (Books that touch the heart) (Paperback)
At first impression, this book looks like one of those boring historical novels that you're forced to read in a class. I actually got this book from my local library because they were selling it. It looked like a long read and, honestly I didn't finish it yet...but it's actually a very interesting book.

Despite the hard vocabulary (at least to me), it's an nice read and that's a lot coming from a person like me. I personally dislike history of any sort but this book got me interested in it.

You start off the book with his very start, literally. How his parents met, and how he was born to be the leader. It's action packed, with people dying and leaving, yet there are new faces. I have to admit, while I was reading, I could picture this beautiful world with striking details because Prusmack really goes in depth.

The cover itself isn't very appealing, but beyond the pages, you're bound for something interesting.
