Book Description

Praise for Khe:

"An absolute must read . . . filled with conflict/drama, beautiful details, and a main character you can't help but root for."

"...grabs you by the collar and pulls you in. By the time you are finished you are in love with the strange places and complex characters."

"Imaginative and well-written - an entertaining, thoughtful read."

"Gene Wolfe fans will want this one."

------

Immerse Yourself in a New World.

Khe loves her simple life on a farming commune, until she discovers that her gift for pushing the crops is a death sentence. Fleeing across the treacherous wilderness, she makes her way to the city of Chimbalay, searching for the orindles who might save her. But Chimbalay has its own dangers.  The Powers are there--the secret rulers who have chosen Khe to be the mother of a monstrous new race.

Neither "man in space" SciFi nor classical fantasy, Khe deftly blends elements of both while satisfying those searching for something different.  Readers looking for solid world-building and fresh and fully-realized characters will especially enjoy this book.

A trust betrayed.  A transformation that changes everything.

5.0 out of 5 stars You Can't Put It Down September 20, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
It's rare to find a book that will keep me reading all through the night, wide awake because I can't stop turning the pages, wanting to know what happens next. As a fellow writer, I have the utmost respect for any author who can do that. Khe was one of those rare finds for me. Alexes Razevich paints a picture of this unique world that has you sucked in from the beginning. She throws you right into the middle of the story to grab your attention, leaving you with so many questions so you keep reading. She answers each one of them in time, never disappointing. She creates a strong, independent, main character who you fall in love with from the beginning, and genuinely root for the entire book. Though the characters in the book may be alien, there are humanistic qualities to each one of them that makes their world and their story relatable. The book is never predictable by any means and leaves you looking forward to this author's next novel. I don't want to spoil the book for anybody, so I will just end with this, it is definitely worth reading. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars A Brave New World with a Braver Alien Heroine September 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
KHE is a wonderful fantasy adventure novel with an exotic setting that is both strange and familiar. The author reveals a distant world that we haven't seen before, and yet is familiar, because of its strong elements of humanity that resonates with our heart.

In the same manner, its heroine, KHE is at once human but alien. She makes us want to follow her every step to fight for the greater good while we constantly fear for her life and the horrendous fate lurking in the dark for her. Other ingredients in the story will also satisfied a curious mind: the Powers, a superior alien intelligent being we haven't identified in other fantasy novels, the unisexual community where KHE was raised, and a unique plot with the concept of genetically creating a new race that intervenes with the survival of the planet.

It'll be a good read in your leisure time, with a hot jasmine tea.

5.0 out of 5 stars Carried me away to a new place and time February 8, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Khe is a novel that provides insights to a different species and world. The author provides the reader with a new land of fantasy and science fiction. Instead of relying on fantasies based upon our own histories, Ms. Razevich transports you to a whole new world of different species, cultures and foods. She provides descriptions that allow you to mentally visualize these humanoids; different from us but imbued with many of our hopes, fears, desires and prejudices.

She showcases the dangers associated with power as those in control claim to work in the best interest of others while working to feather their own nests. She provides a vision of a sisterhood foreign to our culture, but workable in her envisioned land. You have the opportunity to suffer and strive with Khe, the central character. The descriptions of color, texture, taste, and emotions carry the reader on a rich ride with Khe. The heroine moves from gentle naivety, to knowledge, to an almost cynical understanding of the events that surround her. Throughout though, the main character retains a freshness that keeps the reader engaged.

This book provides an allegory to the dangers faced by cultures that have comfortably stagnated while allowing others to exert power. As the story progresses the reader follows Khe as she attempts to make her world a better place more in line with the history of her species. This is a fun, interesting and easy read. I loved visualizing a world so rich with color and culture, yet so different from our own. I will be watching for Ms. Razevich's next novel.

This isn`t bad for a first novel, a few things could have been changed a bit, but all in all shows a good bit of promise of things to come.
