This review is from: Khiva to Samarkand - The remarkable story of a woman's adventurous journey alone through the deserts of Central Asia to the heart of Turkestan (Paperback)
This is an account of two explorations of central Asia south of the trans-Siberian railway that were undertaken by a wealthy Scottish spinster in 1906 and 1908. Ella Robertson Christie is a famed Victorian lady traveller. Her account of her adventures in these remote, primitive lands makes a good read. This is a reprint of a work originally published in 1925. The work is illustrated with photographs taken by the author. |
