This album is truly awesome. Young Hawaiian Slack Key Master Makana transports you all over Hawaii with this great selection of historic Hawaiian songs smoothly mixed in with Makana originals. Makana is an awesome Hawaiian Musician, Singer & Songwriter and all three are impressively displayed on this new album.

Kick back, relax and let Makana sail you through Hawaii on a truly delightful Hawaiian Musical experience, you won't be dissapointed. I have listened to this album dozens of times and find myself wanting to listen again and again. When it's raining here in Seattle I pop this album in and let it take me back to Hawaii.....

I recently saw Makana play at the Kilahuea theater in Kauai and was blown away by his guitar playing and his energetic style. I had purchased this CD a day earlier and wanted to see with my own eyes that the guy could really play this traditional but crisp collection of Hawaiian songs live. I was not dissapointed. He is part of a new breed of Hawaiian young players that is injecting new energy into slack key playing. This is my second favorite Hawaiian CD of all time, next to Iz's Facing Future. An amazing performer, and a nice singer to boot.

Makana is a perfectionist musician. This album is so clean and carefully arranged, but full of life.
For music to lighten the work day, this is excellent. I put it on repeat and let it run, as I do with
it playing while I work. The music is wonderful.

Some of the slack key performances become too somber. There is life and sunshine through out this performance. I replay this selection very frequently.

Loved it! Makana is a whiz on the guitar while the timbre of his voice speaks volumes. You will like the album if you like Hawaiian music or if you just enjoy hearing a guitar virtuoso. If you ever have the opportunity to hear him live, he has great range and does a helluva job on contemporary and classic rock songs too. I'm hoping some of those covers too will be released on a future album.

Makana is one of Hawaii's finest guitarists.
He focusses on slack-key playing on this album.
and he has a beautiful voice.
if you like slack key,you need to hear this album.

i never tire of this album. if you've been to hawaii, this will take you back in an instant. makana is and has a makana, a gift. if you appreciate a consummate guitarist, check him out.

Makana is a very talented guitar player and singer, and this music is very calming and enjoyable to listen to. It really makes you feel Aloha, so if you love Hawaii, you should add this to your cd collection, Makana is wonderful.
