The player reads DVD-Video (PAL and NTSC) as well as DVD-RW and DVD+RW discs. Among the video-compression formats the DP-450 supports are DivX (3.11, 4, and 5), ISO MPEG-4, and XviD. This means you can download full-screen, full-motion videos from the Internet that actually look and sound close in quality to what you get from your television or DVD player. Audio compatibility extends to the open-source Ogg Vorbis format for music compression (slightly higher quality than MP3 for a same-sized file).
Visually, the silver-and-black DP-450 was designed to reflect its Scandinavian origins. When you plug the player in for the first time, a user-friendly graphic interface prompts you to select language, video connection type, screen size, and audio connection, a four-step quick setup that ensures ease of use.
Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the DP-450 stands ready to deliver the full potential of your DVDs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts.
The player uses the French-developed SCART connection for its component-video (progressive) signal, and a supplied cable provides an interface for use with the standard RCA-tipped jacks on associated equipment. This output allows the player to channel video signals in a manner consonant with not only PAL (European) and NTSC (North American) video systems, but with RGB computer monitors as well (RGB adapter cable not included).
Other outputs include standard composite- and S-video connections, a coaxial digital-audio jack (for passing Dolby Digital and DTS surround signals to a compatible audio/video receiver), and even analog RCA outputs for decoded Dolby Digital surround (in case your AV receiver offers multichannel analog inputs but no digital processing).
Even after you've bought your player, the DP-450's software and technology will continue to develop. Its firmware will keep pace with the latest research and development, and the latest firmware is available directly from the KiSS Web site (in the support section).
What's in the Box
DVD player, remote control, remote batteries, user's manual, stereo analog audio interconnect/composite-video cable, SCART-to-RCA component-video cable, and AC power cord.

Very nice player, lots of extras, but...,

This review is from: KiSS DP-450 Progressive Scan DVD Player, with DivX Certified (Electronics)
I was surprised at the player's speed. It's fast enough when starting playing a dvd, or a DivX formated film.fast forward, reverse on dvd is 8x,16x,32x,48x, the same for divX. when playing divX films seeking is a bit slow(you wait app. 10seconds or so). As for the subtitles in the divX format, they are automaticaly selected -nice, but ONLY if they are in the same folder with the film file (you don't have the honour to locate and select the file yourself), and ONLY if they are in microdvd subtitle format. The player is firmware upgadeble, so there's chance this issue can be resolved. My digital camera's .avi (AIPTEK 3200) or .quicktime (KODAK 3.2M) format video clips ARE NOT SUPPORTED. Some pausing was observed when playing a divx 3.11 low motion film at 1015kbit/s video and 127kb/s audio, 1 in 120 films i have seen.it's annoying, but hopefully only 1 in 120!!!! multiple content cd's are supported, very nice... cd's with lots of pics, video, and mp3 will make you wait a lot untill the player makes up it's mind and decides to show you the screen where you select what you want to do... see, hear... THE GENERAL IDEA IS THAT IT WORTHS THE MONEY SPENT. SOME THINGS STILL CAN BE IMPROVED, OTHERS ARE FINE JUST AS THEY ARE.

THE BEST VERSATILE PLAYER-EVER!,

This review is from: KiSS DP-450 Progressive Scan DVD Player, with DivX Certified (Electronics)
THIS DVD PLAYER TAKES VIDEOS AND MOVIES TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL!1-IT'S A TOP OF THE LINE DVD PLAYER W/PRO.SCAN-PLAYS ALL DVD's. 2-THIS ALSO PLAYS A FULL LENGTH MOVIE ENCODED IN DIVX AVI FILE FORMAT ON A COMPACT DISC. USING A REASONABLY FAST COMPUTOR,AND THE PROPER DIVX BRAND SOFTWARE-DR.DIVX,AMIGO DVD MAGIC,YOU CAN INEXPENSIVELY CONVERT DVD DISCS,MOST VIDEO FILE TYPES INTO DIVX FILES AND THEN BURN THE DIVX FILE ONTO CD. HERE'S JUST AN EXAMPLE OF ONE OF MY DIVX CD's: A 1 HOUR,40 MINUTE DIVX MOVIE FILE IS RECORDED ON ONE CD. THE VIDEO QUALITY IS COMPARABLE TO A 2HOUR-MODE VHF TAPE- GET THE PICTURE? THIS DIVX PLAYER PAYS FOR IT SELF IN THE VERY LONG RUN. ONE LAST BUG,THESE DIVX MOVIES ALSO PLAY ON COMPUTORS WITH CD-ROM ONLY DRIVES. I HAVE 28 DIVX MOVIES ON CDs AND THEY ALL PLAYED WELL,SOME WITH ZOOMING MODE ON.
