Since I love Jerry van Amerongen's cartoons, I'll give this incredibly tiny book 1/4 star for each cartoon. Ergo, 20 cartoons at .25 star per equals 5 stars. Then I'll deduct 3 stars since THE BOOK IS 48 PAGES, HAS 20 CARTOONS, & MEASURES 3.5 INCHES BY 2.5 INCHES!!! Folks, that is less than 1 cartoon per page, and what's even better, packed in a 12X10X4 box. Of course, it was so tiny, sooo miniscule, that it slid out from under the packing material, & until I lifted up the receipt, I thought they'd sent an empty box...
This is a good book to put in people's Xmas stocking, or else to put in a bunch of concentrically smaller boxes until the recipient gets to a tiny little package. They'll probably be almost as ticked off as I am. Caveat emptor aside, this is a total ripoff.... The (few) cartoons are up to JVA's usual odd standard, but Jeez Louise, are they kidding?????

I love the comic work of Van Amerongen, but this 'Chicken Soup of the Old Fart' type of book is a bit brief. Even the panel size is more like a podunk newspaper comic section rather than a collection book size. Jerry has been pumping out pieces for about 20 years now and that's all they could get that worked?

It is almost as if some evil marketing person (is there any other type) came to him and said "we want to maximize dollars per panel; let's do a really, really tiny book!"

Other than that, Jerry's work is always great and the selected panels are pretty darn funny with the additional captioning.

I loved this book, I gave it to my parents and I thought my mother was going to bust a gut. She kept saying, wait'll you're my age, this will all be hysterical to you.
