There are numerous bootleg CDs with this title, as well as Paradise Ballroom. They are often called "European CDs", or "Limited Edition". They all seem to come from the Russian Federation, or former East Bloc countries.
They are all recorded to CDR from vinyl LP record, and are NOT official label releases. Paradise Ballroom was never officially released on CD, yet you can buy a CD of it off Ebay. If you don't mind the scratches, surface noise, and turntable rumble, go for it. If you are looking for the real Polygram release, you will have much searching to do. KOYMB is a very rare CD. I would ask any seller in advance what "label" it is on, it would have to be Polygram B000008FBD, not "COE Records" or other bootlegs. The album itself is pretty good for its time period. I was a teenager in 1976, and it was one of my favorites. Adrian Gurvitz is a great guitar player. You can hear his Baker Gurvitz Army roots throughout. If you are new to GEB, you will probably think the music is dated and seventy-ish, but for me it evokes another time altogether, a simpler one perhaps (when your a teenager). Paradise Ballroom was a disapointment, despite the tantalizing album cover. It's disco influence put me off, but I thought "Human" was a pretty song. I just wish the CD could be released again, and flush away all these bogus CDRs that are everywhere now.

This is quite a fine album, released at a time when ace guitarist/songwriter/vocalist Adrian Gurvitz had reached his peak. It bursts with intensity and features much musical variety. From "Bareback Rider" to "Something We'd Like to Say" (written by Graeme Edge) each song makes a strong, punchy point. "The Tunnel" is a typically intense Gurvitz instrumental (see the instrumentals on the first Three Man Army album). Graeme's songs hold their own with Adrian's, an encouraging sign. "Shotgun on the 4.42" is an instantly memorable western saga, with some stunning unison work on acoustic and electric guitars.
Contrary to what some say, "Paradise Ballroom", the followup to "Muddy," is quite a worthy album. There's some disco, but it's pretty palatable. "Human" is a fine ballad and "Caroline," the closer, is an all-out finale of the kind Adrian did so well. "Ballroom" proved to be his last truly memorable album.

Great album,

This is a really great album. This is the only 'Moodies solo' I have 'cause they're hard finds their solo albums. Pity 'Paradise Ballroom' is not listed here. If I find a copy you wont be able to read my review :-( !!
As for this album, Adrian Gurvitz, the lead singer and main songwriter, has a voice that might not sound out of place in 'The Band', kind of throaty and Southern. The music has an Americana flavour, reflected in songs like 'Shotgun' and the gospel flavoured 'Gew Janna Woman'. But Graeme Edge IS there and the album also has a strong psychedelic flavour. There is also a fair bit of instrumental music that's very, very good. There's some pretty good guitar tones. Highlights to me were the first four songs (side one of the vinyl record), The Tunnel and Shotgun. The only song I didn't like was the last song because it's really depressing and has a sense of 'no hope' but the others are very good songs indeed. Pity it's hard to get, because it's an album of high quality.

This Is An Official Release,

Purchased this album and the Graeme Edge Band's "Paradise Ballroom." These are official releases on Esoteric Recordings. From what it appears they were reissued in 2009 but, a label related to Decca Records. I'm gonna be brief with the review. CD has incredible artwork. Info in booklet about the album. Graeme Edge does what he does best he plays drums. This seems to be a CD that is a forgotten classic rock gem. Of course, calling any Moodies release classic rock does it injustice. BUT, it has that type of feel musically. I love the Moody Blues and have to be honest. The Blue Jays, Justin Hayward, John Lodge, Ray Thomas, Mike Pinder releases are a little more listener friendly. This CD gives the listener a little more of a challege. The singer has a cool voice but, takes some getting used to. I downloaded a lot of samples on youtube and was not immediately blown away. But, I love Graeme Edge drumming and karma so I took the plunge and got both CD's. When the mood is right and you wanna hear some hard rock with harp, sax and background vocals that take you to the place on the album cover then this CD is right for you. It's hard to review without sounding ignorant but, where a lot of the Moody Blues and solo stuff has aged well and difficult to pinpoint when it was written. This album sounds very at home in the 70's. It's a nice 70's rock gem that many people don't site often. It's all not about Graeme Edge. It's about the Graeme Edge Band and this band plays together awesome. Each time I hear this CD I hear something different. I just wanted to write a review to advise this is an affordably priced official release. I had been trying to get this and the Ray Thomas for years and am glad they finally are available on official releases and a good price. Had a lot of fun listening to Kick off your muddy boots and paradise ballroom. I was surprised there were no poems on the album similar to the kind he writes for the Moodies with Pinder. Not the most listener friendly of the Moodies solo stuff but, a crazy good time that will rock you off the face of the earth:)

Graeme Edge, drummer for the Moody Blues, teamed up with Adrian Gurvitz (The Gun, Baker Gurvitz Army) to make some fantastic music. Not the Moody Blues, but outstanding in it's own way.

I can't help but wonder why you are not giving potential customers some info regarding what is on this disc. How many tracks are there? What musical genre is it? Help us out a bit here. I LOVE the Moody Blues, but have virtually no info about the stuff the band members did as solo artists. Also, you don't mention whether or not this is a boot-leg. Wasn't THRESHOLD the label all of the band members used after they started their own label? Some good old-fashioned honesty --- you know - "Truth in Advertising" --- would be a good thing.

Forget the music off the LP and the CD,

The LP cover of this album has got to be one of the glossiest lushest gushiest colorful pieces of artwork I have ever seen on an LP (forget about the CD, the art work is so small, it is almost non-existent) Done by an artist called Petagno, it is quite an intriguing piece of work for an LP. The music is so-so tolerable with a few whispy brilliant moments but too few and far between. I've got this one framed as wall art.
