5.0 out of 5 stars Incredibly powerful tool for achieving success
I just read and worked through a preview copy of Kick Start Your Success and I can't believe how much more CLARITY I am developing! These steps alone are going to be tremendously helpful in developing all of my goals (there are many) and I am so grateful for this. My brain is cluttered with information and ideas, and this is the first time I've found a way to flush it all...

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
I got this audiobook based on reviews given here, and maybe my expecations were too high, but I am disappointed in this book.

My first complaint is the author read his own book. Sometimes this works, but in this case, his voice failed to convey his ideas with enthusiasm. I recommend the author actually spend some money and get a professional voice actor next...

My brain is cluttered with information and ideas, and this is the first time I've found a way to flush it all out. I might even start sleeping again!! The examples Romanus gives are right on. He truly have a gift for helping people with their goals. I am going to need a quantity discount when the book comes out because I can already think of a list of people I want to buy copies for!

I got this audiobook based on reviews given here, and maybe my expecations were too high, but I am disappointed in this book.

My first complaint is the author read his own book. Sometimes this works, but in this case, his voice failed to convey his ideas with enthusiasm. I recommend the author actually spend some money and get a professional voice actor next time.

The author's key to success is to write down not your goal, but your intent on what your goal will do to benefit other people. I found this to be helpful in preparing my elevator speech to find my dream job (which I have not yet found), but many other goals I found this to be non-productive.

Having a good intent and sharing with others may push me in completing my goals, but if some goals are selfish in nature (winning an award, having self-satisfaction with a personal hobby done well, writing that great novel), sharing whatever good intentions gets me no further along than before. The author's solution is for me to keep 'spinning' my intent until I get help.

A much better book (and audiobook for that matter) is Eat That Frog by Brian Tracy. You want clarity? It is significantly better than Kick Start Your Success.

I know this review is going to be voted as not-helpful by all the author's shills, but I am warning you. This book is definately over-rated.

5.0 out of 5 stars Real help for real people., April 25, 2006

This review is from: Kick Start Your Success: Four Powerful Steps to Get What You Want Out of Your Life, Career, and Business (Hardcover)
This is not a "pat yourself on the back you can do it book." Romanus Wolter actually rolls up his sleeves and helps you get on track. I have learned how to create a method that helps me make decisions and his formula for developing an elevator pitch was the first time I was able to bring all my ideas about what I want to do into one cohesive sentence. It seems almost too simple but just follow the chapters and in a very short time you will be talking with the big cats.

5.0 out of 5 stars Timely Help for organizing web site, March 26, 2006

This review is from: Kick Start Your Success: Four Powerful Steps to Get What You Want Out of Your Life, Career, and Business (Hardcover)
I followed the steps outlined by Romanus in the book and it helped a lot to apply what his ideas suggested to our first page, in fact out letterhead now utilizes the shorthand "Art that works for you" as the byline for our letterhead. It appears on all our colatteral material and is useful in encapsulating what it is that we do for clients that is unique to us. It is just a lever that invites further comments in a discussion and in a networking atmosphere. It's just a few words, but it works out in our situation to lever and direct further conversation and dialogue with a potential client or reference person. Another useful and brief item in the book is the concept that whatever it is that we can do to encourage further questions from an encounter is most important. It isn't what we say that is important, it is what we empower others to ask about our business that is important. Whatever it is that makes them formulate what we do is far more important than us "telling them" what it is. Rendolent of Marshall McLuhan and the notion of "hot communication". Very Effective Marketing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clarifying the path to..., March 14, 2006
By
This review is from: Kick Start Your Success: Four Powerful Steps to Get What You Want Out of Your Life, Career, and Business (Hardcover)
There is something about the ability to take a lot of information and ideas and disseminate it all into a digestible "road map" that is so amazingly powerful.. This book does that well. As well, the information that is brought together is pretty darn good. Spread out over many scribbled notebooks, emails, sticky notes and books half read, the information Mr. Wolter chooses to bring together would be valuable as such. But it's presented here very sensibly, bringing you through the process that you're not just reading valuable information, you're experience the value behind it first hand. I only wish the author would write a book about getting out from under your parent's questionable upbringing.

This book packs a lot into its pages -- it's informative and gets you thinking about how you define and achieve success. It provides practical steps on how to achieve your dreams, how to turn negatives into positives, and how to create your own success team. The steps in the book have helped me hone in on my goal and create a plan to achieve it. This book is a must for those that need a positive "kick in the pants" to get kickstarted on their success! Highly recommended!
