Delicate little melody onto a chugging rhythm: Herrmann & Kleine's KICKBOARD GIRL is like swim in a crystal clear lake. The title track, in particular, melds the angelic synths with a beat that motors along, until it sputters into "Kickboard Girl (Take Care on the Corner)." "May in Fall" also has some serious boom-bap combined with gem-like melodies, and "My Friend Sam" takes things in a pop direction with its easygoing guitar. "Sitting Next To You" has a gentle, Ulrich Schnauss-like vibe that goes ambient with "Sitting Next To You (Closer)." A lovely, calming presence in your life.
