These speakers work very well even at volumes that are above the comfort of the human ear. Very durable thick plastic and metal construction, they can definitely take a beating. I own two pairs and power them with a Pyle Hydra marine amp. Bass is lacking but it might be because of the small amplifier.

I picked these speakers up to go in a 1984 vehicle that had pod speakers to begin with. The POD speakers previously installed were Hi-Tech something or other. The kickers were a bit bigger, and were easier to install. After installation I must say I am quite impressed with the sound. As long as you are not playing any music with ULTRA deep bass response they sound great. They will try and respond to lower frequencies and sound a bit flat, that is why subwoofers are so vital when waiting the response of the deep bass. I have these powered by a Pioneer DEH-2200 deck (no amp) and could not be happier. They are mounted right behind the seats and provide a nice back massage during double bass sets from Pantera, Mudvayne etc.
