KICKER engineers left it all on the table for this redesigned Solo-Baric L7, taking cues from the award-winning original that debuted as groundbreaking at the turn of the millennium, and then improving on them. Let there be no doubt, it's the most complete KICKER subwoofer ever developed.
Available in 8-, 10-, 12-, and 15-inch models, the Solo-Baric L7 still revolves around the breakthrough SoloKon, the one-piece, injection-molded cone with full-coverage back bracing that pushes more air and creates louder bass than any like-size round subwoofer. It's good enough that KICKER uses SoloKon across the board as the cornerstone for each subwoofer in the KICKER bass-making family.
SoloKon may be a rock star, but it's the unshakeable motor structure behind the scenes that propels it to the forefront. Minor tweaks have given the motor an outstanding rep--dual high-temp voice coils, poly-cotton semi-progressive spider, Spiralead tinsel-lead technology, highly-efficient UniPlate pole-piece/back plate, and a heat-reducing T-cut top plate for enormous power handling. And it's never been cooler with a new solid pole piece that disperses more heat than ever before, and more venting near the SoloKon back brace and spider landing.
The distinctive cast-aluminum basket with spring-loaded terminals wraps around and protects these specialized inner workings, with the Solo-Baric crest branded into the back plate.
The Solo-Baric L7 remains available in 2-Ohm or 4-Ohm DVC and conducts business from a sealed or vented box application.

Two 08S12L74 in slotted box w/1500w Crunch amp,
By
This review is from: Kicker 08S12L74 Solo-Baric L7 12-Inch 300mm 4-Ohm DVC Subwoofer (Electronics)
This is the second pair of Solo Baric Square subs that I've owned, my first being older L5s w/ a 1,000w Xplod amp. This time I went ahead a bought the higher model L7, still in a 12" setup. I have them wired down to 1 Ohm on a brand new 1500w Crunch amp in a dual slot box w/4ga wiring. These subs hit much harder and clearer than any pair of subs that I have ever heard(Almost as loud as my buddy's 6-12" CVR bandpass setup w/ two 1500w crunch amps) The Powerzone line from Crunch is AMAZING, I know they're not a big name brand but their amps are built way above standard and I know that they can take a punishment(I knew a guy that had the amp for 9 months running 4 DVC Pioneer subs and had it wired at 0.5 Ohm, the amp last over 9 months before burning up, in which he had it replaced for free by Crunch. The amp is capable of making over 1800w at 1ohm. The Kicker L7s can handle much more power but I want to make sure that my investment will last. HIGHLY recommended, with the highly reinforced surround it's extremely unlikely you'll flex the sub, making no reason not to buy SQUARE (=

A nightmare,
This review is from: Kicker 08S12L74 Solo-Baric L7 12-Inch 300mm 4-Ohm DVC Subwoofer (Electronics)
I've always had a soft spot for Kicker, and have had a few friends who own them, but by now I will absolutely never by another Kicker product, and I will not allow any of my friends to do so either.
I wanted to free up trunk space from my last system, so I bought a zx750 an an l7. Out of the box the zx never worked and Tech support confirmed it was defective, with the help of my old rockford amp. So I bought another l7 so that I could run a 1500 watt amp I had on hand. Once I got them running I couldn't believe how disappointing these were. These would only be good as a strictly compteition subwoofer. They put out great numbers, and move alot of air, but the sound just isn't there, its not even quality, it litterally sounded like 300 watt setup despite how bonkers the vibrations and rattles were (all the bad of subs none of the good). Every time I'd drive somewhere I'd play with the levels trying to get it to sound as good as my old JLs A few times I pulled over before i got where i was going to play with the levels. This isn't to say its not doing anything. I think that these operate at a subsonic level (hence all the rattle and vibration) that I can't appreciate which is great for competitions were its all about volume, but I just want to enjoy my music. Maybe it would be better with the zx and its subsonic filter, but I dont think I ever would not be disappointed in these subs. Which brings me to the icing on the cake. Both of these blew in under a month, taking my Rockford Amp with them. 4 months later I have written Kicker twice about all both L7s and the zx, my issues were never even acknowledged much less attempted to be remedied.

Great Subwoofer,

I finally got my L7 12" I've been wanting for a few years. I'm running a Hifonics Zeus series 1000D @ 2 ohms and its pushing around 750 RMS in a custom 3.5 Ft^3 vented box. It sounds super loud and clean, not to sure why everyone always says they sound distorted and like crap cause mine sounds good the only distortion I can hear is from my car being pounded to crap by this sub. I'll never buy another subwoofer for my car except a matching L7.
