Looks good and does exactly what I expected it to do.
Coolglw
Comes with excellent instructions and an optional mounting method to get it squeezed into the smallest box possible.
BigBoppa
It's definitely worth it if you have limited space and would like a little low end sound.

After extensive research and comparison shopping, I went ahead and picked up a pair of the Kicker COMPVT8 4ohm subwoofers. My goal was to find good quality subs without spending too much money while keeping the appearance of my system as stock as possible. Biggest concern was to be able to fit subs into a very small space, because my vehicle is a 1st generation Toyota Tundra doublecab pickup. I did not want to take out the rear seats, construct any boxes disguised as arm-rest consoles, or break out a sawz-all to dismantle any sheet metal in order to create extra room.

This left me with the small storage compartments under the rear seats that I had to work with. After narrowing down my choices and doing some showroom comparisons between brands at local stereo shops, I went ahead with the Kickers. Part of my decision process was even emailing the customer service people at Kicker, and I was very happy that all of my questions were answered quickly and thoroughly (thank you, Tyson.)

Construction of the COMPVT8 is nice and solid. They come with a cast basket that has been powder coated for a dull finish. I like this because not only is the finish more durable than regular paint, it also eliminates fingerprints (nice if you're mounting with the backs visible.) The egdes of the magnets are encased within a rubber protective 'sleeve' to prevent chipping, as well as lending to the clean appearance. The woofer diaphragm is very stiff, and is stitched to the butyl rubber surround for added strength. The old version of these speakers had an "aluminized" silvery appearance, but I think that the new all-black composite diaphragm of the recent redesign looks a lot better.

I bought this sub for my 2007 tundra....It performs well...WAY BETTER THAN THE STOCK JBL SUB...If your looking for a bass you can hear out side your car I recommend 2 or 3..This sub sounds good if your looking to add to your system for good sound vs being heard from around the block..I like it. AFFORDABLE AND GOOD SOUND

I bought this speaker because of the limited space I had in my truck for a subwoofer. I built a sealed box with slightly less airspace than the minimum required in the specifications. The speaker was being pushed by 200W RMS and it sounds great. It's definitely worth it if you have limited space and would like a little low end sound. It doesn't rattle my brain when it's at the loudest setting, but that's ok for me. I'm an average listener and listen to all types of music. This sub will not take the place of a 10" or a 12" sub, so don't think that it will be as loud. It's crisp, clean, and sounds great for the size. The grill has to be purchased separately, but it's metal and durable. The quality of the Kicker brand is excellent. I would definitely purchase another one if I can find the space in my truck for a second sub.

The stock woofer in my 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe finally bit the dust and needed replacing. FYI, if you want to do a direct replacement and use the factory amplifier, you need the 2 Ohm version of this woofer. I used an aftermarket amplifier, so I used this version, the 4 Ohm. If you install a 4 Ohm woofer with the factory amp, you will lose significant volume. This speaker will fit perfectly in the factory box, but you must remove the outside edge of the plastic trim. As it is pictured, the plastic ring that bears the Kicker logo and has the screw holes in it wraps around the side of speaker and makes it slightly too large to fit in the recessed mounting area of the speaker box. I used a Dremel tool and it took about 10 minutes to trim the outer edge back to the metal and it was truly an exact fit. The only other option is to modify the factory box, and that seemed more radical than trimming a decorative piece on the woofer. Also, the cut edges are hidden when the speaker is mounted, and the whole thing is hidden behind the interior panel of the vehicle. It sounds great in the factory box and with an inexpensive 200 watt amp pushing it is just the right amount for an upgrade in sound from the factory unit. My last tip would be that a great place for a small amp is under the second row seat on the driver's side. It can be installed without removing the seat and is out of the way with the seats in use or laid flat and it is still easy to access and has adequate ventilation.

Not as powerful as the JBL in my 2003 4Runner it replaced, but it will suffice. Considering the shallow depth there weren't a whole lot of options in this price range.

Looks good and does exactly what I expected it to do. I think this is the best 8" sub available on the market.
