Editorial Reviews

Limted two disc (CD + DVD) edition includes bonus DVD. 2011 album from the Metal maniac and former Skid Row frontman. In early 2011, Bach headed into the studio to record under the direction of Bob Marlette (Black Sabbath, Shinedown, Atreyu, Filter). The result is a high-energy, hard rock album along the lines of Skid Row, Slave To The Grind, Subhuman Race and Angel Down, but the songs, performances and sound quality are all heavy, interesting and completely Rock 'n' Roll. The album cover, which was created by artist Richard Villa, reflects the lyrics as well as the brutality of the music. If you like rockin' guitar riffs, high-energy songs and performances, deadly drums of doom, and ear-shattering screams, we got your Rock 'n Roll fix right here!

2.0 out of 5 stars Solid album, but is ruined by horrible production November 11, 2011
By sls3
Format:MP3 Music
For Loudness War enthusiasts and audiophiles only:
Now I don't know who mastered this album, but the one who did should reconsider their job. I was amazed to hear how different the album sounds in a car compared to on a computer. On computer it sounds loud, but fine. In a car[with good speakers] it sounds like loud, indistinguishable, hypercompressed noise. Just as a previous Amazon reviewer stated, Sebastian Bach's vocals/lyrics are difficult to understand as the instruments are clashing with each other for their space to be heard.

Using Audio Editing Software, I studied the wav files of the album and it showed them constantly peaking at -0.10 DB! Whoever mastered this album didn't realize what damage they caused by destroying all the dynamics of this album and leaving no headroom on the heavy parts. No wonder it sounds horrible.

When will record companies and producers learn that louder and compressed does not mean better sales?! So, for a more distinguishable, listenable sound, I'd recommend the mp3's for your mp3 player or iPod rather than the actual CD for your vehicle. You'll save a couple dollars and not be as disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bach is back! September 28, 2011
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
First off, if you enjoyed Sebastian's last effort Angel Down, then you are certainly going to enjoy this album. As with Angel Down, the music is a sort of mid range generic heavy metal sound. Thankfully there is no guest vocal like with the first few songs of angel down (I bought a Sebastian Bach album, right?). The thing thats sort of missing here is the soaring guitar and stand out band as with Skid Row. Also missing are the peak emotional vocal range of the Skid Row records. If youre familiar with Sebastian's Frameshift album you might find that he carries over more of that style vocal than from his Skid years.

Still, this is a solid "metal" album, tho somewhat generic sounding it doesnt have any real flaws. It would be nice if Sebastian took a few more risks and maybe dug a little deeper emotionally because that is why most people love him, amirite?

5.0 out of 5 stars Sebastian Bach - Kicking and Screaming Review December 31, 2011
Format:Audio CD
Man I was skeptical at first because lots of music out now isn't original or appealing. This is a great album especially if you like hard rock music. To me it is almost like a continuation of Slave to the Grind with a Little Subhuman Race mixed in. I can't take it out of my cd player. I think lots of bands need to pay attention here with this album because it shows us how to Rock! 5 stars from me!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Angel Down pisses all over this! January 12, 2012
Format:Audio CD
To the point: Bach's vocals seem restrained. He is a terrible lyricist - I can understand what he is trying to convey but he just doesn't effectively capture his thoughts in a meaningful or artistic fashion. Sterling is a competent guitarist but his song writing just seems generic to me. He also is not a lyricist. Overall, I think this duo could improve and has potential but this release is just forgettable for me. I tried listening to it several times and nothing makes an impression. I love Sebastian, Angel Down rocked viciously. This cd seems neutered. I really wanted to enjoy this but unable. Hope the next effort is a little less safe.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bach rocks June 24, 2013
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
Alot of the songs sound the same and the chrous' are NOT too catchy. But all in all it's not too bad. Much better than the new Skid Row, Skids really suck w-out him. they try too hard to sound like him. good job Bach.
