Bought 2 of these for my kids. It only turns in one direction and can't turn and drive at the same time (i.e., it has to stop, spin in one direction, and then go). Price you pay to make it simple for a 5 yo to use.
Main problem is that the cars use the same controller frequency causing a single remote control to control both cars. When you try to use both remotes at the same time - confusion abounds... Update: Seems that Fire Truck and Bubble Gum racer work on 49MHz. Police car, School Bus, and Monster Truck work on 29 MHz. If you buy two, make sure you go across these groups or else you will have controller problems.

For $[...] it's hard to complain. Real RC vehicles are at least 10x that much. Still, I wouldn't buy another one. Sadly, I only learned this after I already bought three of them for different kids. And all three (different models) worked the same and had the same limitations.
The biggest problem is the range - about 10'. It's also intermittent. Once in awhile, it will work from farther away. But it also fails from very close. It is not powerful enough for most carpets. Works pretty well on hard floors. Even had trouble on asphalt driveway. It's also loud and annoying. I ended up taking it apart and snipping the wire to the speaker. All three kids lost interest pretty quickly. It's just not reliable enough for a kid's short attention span. They have too many toys that work every time.

I dont know who loves this this race car more, my daughter or her grandpa (an ex stock car driver)! My daughter is 21mths and absolutely loves cars!!! We are a family of racers and my baby girl is no exception! This stock car is pretty, pink, girly and has a rubber body, so it can crash into anything and not get damaged! The battery compartment is a bit difficult to get to! The remote is a matching pink. PERFECT for your Princess! Karima Khatib Mohamed, Expert Shopper, Sacramento CA

This toy has a handpainted finish and is made in China so buyer beware. Also it is cheaply and poorly designed. In order to install the car batteries you have to unscrew the bottom chassis and separate if from the soft plastic car body. There is no external battery compartment. Imagine having to do this every time to refresh batteries. As for the remote, the required 9V battery is a tight fit as it seems the space was originally designed for AA size - and the protruding antenna could cause bodily injury if a child were to run and fall on it (should not be recommended for ages 2+). Other design shortcuts include the use of rubber rear wheels (connected to the motor) and front hard plastic ones. Therefore the car doesnt move in a perfectly straight line and is noisy on hardwood floors. For the price I expected a much better product. I just dont feel this is a safe toy for the recommended ages and will be shopping for an alternative.

My granddaughter loves this car but gets a little frustrated that she has trouble manuevering it. She's not quite sure what to do with the controls yet but she is always thrilled when she makes it do something. This has drawn out many a giggle from between her lips.

I had a time putting in the batteries. They should send the parts and I could put it together.
The kids had fun. but it was hard to access the battery conpartment.

I was really looking forward to giving it to my daughter as she has been asking for a 'pink' remote control car. I love kid galaxy and thought we were safe....we must have received a dud! First the wheels were catching on the pink rubber between them so I trimmed it so they could spin smoothly. Then the radius is only about 5-6' before it stops and you have to move closer again! So, every 3 seconds she has to run towards the car....She could kick it further than the remote allows it to go! Where's the antenna??? I rechecked the box and then read thru the troubleshooting but I guess that's as well as it works. We'll keep searching and hopefully find a pink that is comparable to the boys!

I bought this for my 22 month old daughter (21 at the time). She was amused for about 5 min and since then has probably played with it for an hour total. Not sure if this is just ours, but I noticed that you really had to be close to the car for it to receive the signals. All of the batteries were new, anyway, if you walk along with it it works great. She did have some fun once it accidentally went over her foot and then mine. I am hoping once she's a bit older she may enjoy it more, right now the controls are still not intuitive enough for her.
I personally would prefer a bit more range on the remote than the 3-5 feet it now works in, maybe its designed for kids to go along with it. Pros: - Cute - Not too noisy - Simple to use and doesn't go too fast which is nice for this age - Nice material, soft not breakable plastic Cons: - Not very happy with the range on the remote - Daughter doesn't enjoy as much as I expected (can I say that? :)) Bought this via Amazon, item came as expected in good condition. Some reviewers complained about ben difficult to get to the battery compartment, which is true, it can be tricky unless you happen to have the right tool...luckily I had an Ikea toolbox and one of the screw drivers in the toolbox worked perfectly for this.

I have twin girls, I thought this would be so much for them. Well guess what, it's not. They can't play with them, because apparently the remote works for all the cars they ship out. So when one is trying to play with it,and the other is playing too, it makes the car go crazy. They are unable to control them and make them go the way they want. Who would make a remote control car that doesn't allow another person to be playing with another one too. Very upset because all my girls are doing is CRYING.

I purchased this remote car for my 3 year old, not only did she love it, her older 7 year old sister kept wanting to play with it over her remote control car. Easy to work for that age, one button to go and one button rotates it. They love it.
