the water should stay on the outside and not in the battery compartment. I found that even adults had trouble keeping the boat from flipping over sometimes when it got close to the wall of the pool. The battery compartment was full of water at the end of the day when we went to take the batteries out and corrosion had already started. We had a good time using it but with the problems caused by water getting into the battery compartment, we will definitely limit the amount of time we use it. Cleaning out the corrosion was difficult and time consuming.

I bought these boats for my boys to play with in the pool. Within 30 minutes they were both broke. I sent away for two new ones and had the same problem.

We bought two of these boats for our grandkids to play with on our pond. They love them andhad so much fun. We used them approximately a dozen times when one of them just stopped working. We tried everything, even took it apart to see if wires had corrasion or had seperated. We could find nothing that was fixable. We even put new batteries in twice. We will try again next summer with another one.
